Yes! This morning I asked my girlfriend of two years if she would marry me and she said yes. Tuesday is actually our two year anniversary but she has to work so I popped the question a little early. I have had the ring for close to a month now and it was very hard waiting. For my anniversary present she gave me money for the 403 that is now going in my Olds. She also helps me work on the cars and wants to go to a car show today. I think I have a winner.
Just had to brag a bit
Mine bought me a Skyline engine. Think I have the money for one of those!
Yep, I think she sounds like a keeper. Congrats. Me and mine will be getting married this summer and and undecided date. Good luck in the preparations!
Congrats, that's awesome! I'm thinking a Miata wedding...

Actually she is more of a muscle car girl. Last night we were talking about finding her a project when the Olds is done.
Yeah, it was the "standard GRM answer" joke I am also more of a muscle car gal. Have fun seeking out that new project together!

Thanks one and all for the kind words. Hey I'm sure we could squeeze some of ya'll into the festivities. More than likely we will be talking a party with a short ceremony attached, that's normally how these things happen in my family.
She did give me one condition and that is to kick my ass back into shape so she can keep me for a good long time. I was already planning on that anyway just gives me more incentive.
Our day went like this. I popped the question putting the ring on her finger as she woke up, she said yes, we took her neice to the park, went and told her family the news, I talked engine swaps with her brother, went to the car show (she fell in love with a 67 Firebird 400), then we went to see Fast Five (actually very good and she loved it). Not a bad day if I do say so myself.

Awesome!
The getting in shape thing works two ways. If you are in shape, you also get to keep her for a long time

Sounds wonderful. Dude, ya gotta have some kind of Musclecar-themed wedding!
Congratulations, I think (says the guy who is happily married for almost 17 years). :D
Congrats, going on 6 years myself. Good luck!!!!
I like the idea of a muscle car wedding. Though I'm also working on a honeymoon begining in Florida for the challenge then maybe take a short cruise. She did come up with the idea of us holding off on our cross country road trip and doing that for the honeymoon
I talked to one of my friends that lives down in Florida and he wants to come up for the wedding. He also said we need to come down there to visit and he would give us a place to stay, so maybe the road trip.
Congrats! I'm marrying my keeper at the end of the month! May wedding planning stress not take too many years off your life!
Congrats on your upcoming marriage as well. Yeah she is already wanting to get magazines and stuff for ideas. We are talking for the reception either having it here or one of our parents places and just have kind of a big potluck BBQ with plenty of beer . I am still pushing for some muscle car action. I even found an '86 T Type for sale at a dealer near my place, I'm kinda thinking about trading my bike for it if I can.
there a place near you that rents out classic cars? You could rent a nice vintage muscle car (mustang, camaro, challenger, gto, or the like) and motor off in style to your honeymoon... or at least away from the festivities

Let me say from experience, your guests will thank you! Because that's exactly how we did it.
We were already going to be in Vegas last year, so we just got married at "The Little White Wedding Chapel" and then had a party at her parents house.
They live on about 10 acres, her step-dad fired up the trailer sized smoker with brisket/chicken/sausage/ribs, all the normal "BBQ" sides, one our friends is a baker so her gift to us was all the confectionaries at the party.
Had a few kegs of Boulevard on tap, my dad setup his small PA to DJ, then we built a bon fire at the end of the night.
Congrats!
