I am so going to have an ice cold G&T when I get home. First "real" pay period of the new company (my new company) and so far things have only been kind of manic instead of full on completely off the hook crazy. Oh and I actually got a pay check (as did my employees). It is the first pay check for me in 6 months!!!!! It is kind of weird actually working and getting paid for it.
I swore that I would just go get a job this time but I guess I am not cut out to work for anyone. My wife is happy (she got a pay check also).
This time I got together a group of some of the people that I have really enjoyed working with over the years and put this thing together. I am excited as we have been having way to much fun over the last couple of weeks and we have been making money.
Life is good at the moment!!!!

Great news. Celebrate the occasion. In fact, I'll toast my next glass of Bordeaux to you.

I'm a little burned out on micro-brews, so I'm going with a macro-brew, namely a frosted mug of Coors.
Guinness is my fall-back. Or Sam Adams. To be honest, I didn't really drink beer (or much of anything) until I discovered Guinness back during my mid-20's.

Incidentally, Dean ... what's your preference in gin? I'm back to an occasional gin martini and my preference is Beefeater.
Since I missed Bourbon Day, I went and bought myself a liter of Bulleit.
The drink itself is nice, very smooth and rich flavors (I am not a reviewer, I know harsh and smooth, and tasty and bland) but the plastic top came off of the cork when I tried to open it. This is a completely unacceptable structural failure that prevented me from getting to the nectar for a good two more minutes that I had been prepared for. As you can imagine, this hardship ruined my entire evening.
Nice Melons indeed!
My current drink of choice.

I need to get off these damn cold meds. Mixing dayquil booze is a bad plan.
To whomever was asking about gin- i have two standbys. If im in the mood to get E36 M3 faced, new amsterdam. Citrusy, smooth, goes amazing in g&t heavy lime. If i im not in the mood and just want a good drink, hendricks. Cucumber, light citrus, juniper. Not a traditional gin, but dry enough to work in mosy gin drinks. Could easily be consumed on the rocks if one desired.

I have found that hendricks is my Gin of choice. Very clean great flavor. Of all people my daughter suggested it. A little pricy but I don't drink it every day. I am lucky to be able to have the "cocktail hour" once a week.

Quoting for . . .. . . Well who cares about why I am quoting it.
I chuckle every time I read this!!!
I've been looking forward to this day all damn week! (Insanely jealous of you Eastern Standard Time folk about now...)
Went out for a four-beer lunch with my boss, and SWMBO and I headed for a quick weekend on the coast at a friend's house on the ICW with some other folks. Should be good times for all.

Bosses boss left. Boss told me to leave early, then he left. I'm sticking around for awhile longer only because the next train isn't until 3:50 (going to my parents), but I'll be stopping at a 7-11 or CVS for a beer on the train.

So are you now the "Boss"? I think you need to have a beer and Pizza party. I mean you are now technical the boss at the moment. Yes?
Been a G&T kick lately, too. Uncle Val's Botanical Gin and Fevertree Tonic.
Yes, berkeleying please!

This is one of my favorite threads here! But where's the OP? I spent the day at the vintage races at Thompson. I'll be there tomorrow too. This weather is fantastic here in Southern New England. Makes me glad to be a resident (this time of year). Anyway, since Thompson is a short back-roads trip from my house, I'm currently done with racing for today and on my deck with Annie drinking wine. Did I say the weather is fantastic here?
Enjoying a proper cocktail hour. Then a little Italian is on the menus. Alfredo pasta with vegie's.

Well, we had our three granddaughters all day and they left about an hour ago. Annie and I are effen burned out. In a matter of about 45 minutes I've managed to swill down three strong gin and tonics and Annie two. There's a little bit of medicine left in the Beefeater bottle, so we'll be killing that tonight, no doubt. And then there's the home-made red wine that my lovely Italian neighbors gave me in exchange for the eight "tomate" plants I grew from seed. That'll be "drunk" later.
Oh, happy weekend everybody!
I've been on vacation all week, so every night has been something new. Tonight? Tennessee Jed.
Been a good boy tonight due to the expected imbibing this weekend.
Hendricks is good stuff. As far as generibeer goes, I love coors. You can't go wrong with The Banquet Beer. I mean, if it was good enough for the Bandit and Snowman to drive to Arkansas for, it's good enough for me!
Tonight I'm about three big rocks glasses into my go-to bourbon, Maker's Mark.
Whiskey is good!
Well for once in a long while I get to chime in on the thread I started. I'm not sure yet what I'm drinking tonight, but whatever it is, the first will be in honor of the policemen killed in Dallas. That and a prayer for their families. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend, guys.

Some friends and I won a trivia night a while back, and tonight we cash in on the prize: A 2 hour open bar. Yay!
