I know I shouldn't be saying anything here as the "setup" I've got isn't very quiet, but going WOT for a bit and then revving the bike at the lights is rather excessive.

Yeah, loud is one thing, going out of your way to generate more noise than necessary in residential areas is another. Anything with a big torquey motor doesn't have much excuse to be above a high idle in a 25mph zone.

Yeah but a duke doesn't sound stupid. And I'm sure they exhaust you have is for more reasons than just "to make it louder" alone. And I get some things are loud, my car is loud. But when I leave in the miata in the morning I try to just ease the clutch out and get her rolling without much throttle till I'm out of the neighborhood. I don't get on it until I'm out on the main road.
Let me know when you've found a solution.
I have a neighbor like this. It isn't just his Harley. Its his numerous pickup trucks, his ATV, etc. Everything is really loud. And whenever he seems to be operating one of these loud vehicles, he comes and goes with liberal use of the throttle.
I don't care what type of car/bike it is, or why its loud (race prepped, like the noise, broken, etc.). I just want people around me to have some common courtesy and not make unnecessary noise on what should be a quiet street in a quiet neighborhood.
