What are they made out of? My gut reaction says "crucible" but I'm not confident.

Definitely not crucibles then. Idk. The flats speak to some sort of alignment or fitment, but that's all I got.
No clue, but I believe everything is a bond if you try hard enough (or so I've been informed).
Wheel bearing caps for a 730e? Aluminum to save weight. 
Slugs to be turned into some sort of thing. Either machined or forged/pressed to make a finished product.
Is that a witness mark in the slot of the first pic? Looks like a rod.
