Changing tires and putting the car on the trailer, there's an autocross tomorrow! :)
Another vote for staying home. Yeah, we're drinking, we're shooting off what passes for "over the counter" fireworks in Georgia (lots of sparky "fountains", but no flying stuff), and we're watching seriously bad horror B-movies (Full Moon Features' "Dollman", if you've heard of it).
I still think NYE is the worst driving night of the year, because all the "amateur" drinkers (the folks that never touch the stuff except on NYE) come out. IMO, those "two drinks" seriously mess with someone who has no tolerance for it. Doesn't matter that their BAC is "legal" when they're crossing the centerline on a 2-lane.

listening to the scanner tonite, one DOA and one Medevac'd in accident this evening... n it's early yet
We had some friends over and cooked some oysters. Over early here so everyone can be home before the drunks come out in force. As a matter of fact, they just left. Another hour or so, I'll probably be asleep. Midnight just takes too long to get here.
Winter storm advisory tonight. Supposed to be a few inches of snow and winds up to 45 mph at midnight. Good night to stay in.
Tried to do my weekly "fix ma Jeep" earlier today. We'll have a quiet night in - well quiet until the cats wake up again - and see if I can stay up until midnight or not.
We took the kids out to Falls Lake and did a combined bike ride/hike earlier today. It was my daughter's first time on a bike and everybody had a lot of fun. Then we went to Cici's pizza to give the kids another treat for dinner. Now we're all inside waiting for the ball to drop; the kids are very excited (age 7 and 3) and show no signs of going to sleep at all.
As for partying, we don't go out any more. A long time ago, my wife and I not only partied like it was 1999 we also partied like the Y2k bug was going to end the world. As I told some youngsters, I already beat that level; replaying it would be like playing football with toddlers- not any fun at all and one of the kids (most likely a hipster) would be bound to get hurt.

I stayed in, then heard loud fireworks outside. I went outside with my case of beer, met a screaming-hot Mexican girl who was flirtatious but not willing. So, I came back inside and started cruising the GRM forums and I'm stuck with you guys.
No offense, but berkeley you guys. I'm going to bed.
We don't go out NYE unless we stay over somewhere.
Last night was Big Bang Theoiry marathon and Chinese food.
My wife and I make a holiday of it as she's Jewish and I'm not. We exchange gifts and make a nice home cooked meal (New England Risotto, Italian bread, chocolate cake for desert). Went to a friend's and played pool. Then to Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont to ring in the new year with the Grippo Funk Band. Grippo Funk Band
Today the wife is making homemade deep dish Chicago style stuffed pizza for friends for dinner this evening at 6. This is a regular occurance that usually coincides with Michigan losing the Rose Bowl (wife's a U of M'er) but alas they haven't been good enough the last few years to make!
Went to a 1920s murder mystery party hosted by a good friend. Drank, gambled, played cards, did gangstery hobnobbing. Good times.
I'm on the bottom right, with the rolled up shirtsleeves and the smoke. I was a corrupt detective.
Happy new year y'all!
We threw a Pajama, pizza, and ping-pong party. It was pretty fun. I drank just a tad too much, but was still Forrest Gumpish on the table.

Aaaah, you're supposed to COOK them first. We've been in your neck of the woods last few days. Anyway, puking from too much booze on NYE: Not so bad. Shellfish poisoning OTOH is teh suck.
We had some friends and their kids over to eat, run the wheels off the trains before they go away and watch the ball drop. Today I held down couch with leftovers and the Annual Honeymooners Marathon.
I wasn't aware that new years eve had been shortened to NYE. I clicked theis thread wondering if it was about Bill Nye.
