so i have a completely stock 240sx, but i have a injen air filter on it and i want to know what i can do to it to make it at least 250hp on stock internals cause i am eventulay going to put a rb25 in it when i have the right tools at my college in two years to do it. but right now my car is technically salvaged cause it got hit in the front passenger side nose. i need a bumper front fender, head light, radiator and airbags but i would rather not worry about the airbags on the driver side cause i can buy a nismo steering wheel but i don't know if Vermont requires airbags to register it. now i heard that these cars are sub framed so i want to now if i have to weld the frame back where it got hit by the hood/radiator mount, or can i buy a side frame. so please let me know what i can do to the motor and should i waist 269$ on a aftermarket radiator if i'm going to swap it in two years or buy a used one for $50. so if you have parts for this model around vermont anywhere or if you know where i can get them. one more question can i cut the part of the frame that is bent and have a auto salvage yard send the part of the frame that i need and weld back to my car with out it being weak or is this whole f ingg car worth less please help thanks

wow really dude, do you not have a life i've seen you on almost every post alright im only asking advice on what i can do to it. im going to wyo tech or uti do do this kinda of stuff and make imports so why dont you stop leaving stupid stuff like this, (im not sure can sware on this web site)
thank you
Yeah you nailed it Marty.
Mr ninja, take it to a frame shop make sure it's straight, personally I like the silvia front end, if it's smashed already that's the route I would go, if ya don't wanna go the "JDM" way, then start scrounging CL for parts, bolt em on. As for your power goals, get it running driving, registered, and legal. Then worry about power.

Hey guy, take a step back. Your post was a bit vague, and looked like my 7 year old niece posted it. If you're going to UTI or wyo, you might want to bone up a bit on some things, generally subframes are replaced, or in some cases they can be straightened, but for the most part they are replaced. A bit labor intensive but not hard with the right tools. I've NEVER heard of one being cut and welded back together. If you are seriously considering a RB swap, check into a tubular k member, if they even make one for the 240, it would save you some weight and make mounting things easier. If it was honestly salvaged there's a reason for it, if it's tweaked that bad, you're gonna need a front clip which usually includes a front sub. Good luck with it.
In reply to Spinout007:
i dont really care about anything but my car i dont care about my typing nothing so as long as i get the same message across im fine but thanks for the advice
maybe you should try some apostrophes commas periods exclamation points question marks colons or semicolons
it generally makes your post like more readable and junk if you dont know how to spell or care about your typing nothing you should probably work on that as it will make you a more professional appearing person and people might take you more seriously and stuff maybe you should capitalize the first letter of a sentence too and double space between sentences
Now, on to the meat of your post. As for power on stock internals, I would suggest sourcing a turbo, turbo manifold, and learning a thing or two about megasquirt. As far as damage is concerned, DO NOT SKIMP due to price, if the subframe is busted, the subframe is busted, GET A NEW ONE!
A few words to live by.
1.Power is nothing without control.
2.Saving pennies on safety equipment (tires included) could cost you a lot more in the long run.
3.Before you turn the screw up on the boost, tighten the nut behind the wheel.
That is all. Ask questions, learn from them, and ask more, we are only here to help.
Oh, who the hell spends 270 hard earned bones on a crappy radiator. Those marketing folk at KOYO have you sucked in don't they?
yeah they do, you bought a 240....
...as long as i get the same message across im fine but thanks for the advice
Oh, you are getting a message across.
I am not sure it is the message you are intending to get across but trust me, there is a message coming through loud and clear.
As the former owner of a '97 240sx, I have nothing more to add.
Thanks for the compliment! I do like to post on this board quite regularly, often every night. It's winter and my car projects are at a standstill for the time being, so I keep in touch through the magic of the intraweb.
My post was not to to be disparaging in the fixing of said 240 or the quest of the knowledge to fix it. It was more as a response to the old thread you started where A LOT of members said "don't get that car!"
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/should-i-trade-my-97-eclipse-for-a-240sx-with-frnt-end-damage/18057/page1/
It just makes me chuckle, that's all.
Also as mentioned before, proper sentence structure go a long way when you're looking for help. This board is one of the friendliest and most knowledgeable there is but if you want help, please make the posts legible to read.
My .02 is to look for the parts to make the car safe and drivable before looking to mod it. Find a whole salvage front sub-frame, it will be a lot less trouble than trying to section a bent one, not to mention safer. Post pics as to the damage, a lot of people will be able to tell you what work will be needed just by a few pics or whether the car is worth the trouble.
Can someone give me some cliffnotes before i suffer an aneurysm?
Add me to the chorus of "We can't understand a Berkleying thing you're saying, put some effort into it!"
This is one of the most knowledgeable car forums around, but that is because it is followed by smart people, who are generally literate. You'd be getting much better advice if you spent the extra two minutes to sprinkle some punctuation into your posts.
Werd Tommy! We are the best friends you could ever have. We don't ask much in return, but we give a lot back.

As a society we've adopted a standard for communicating through the written word. If you would like to communicate with us, to probe us for our collective automotive knowledge, you'll need to do so in a manner that we can understand. Being able to get your thoughts down on paper in a coherent manner will be a great skill to have at college, and will certainly help you out in the job market. While I can understand having blinders on to anything not related to automobiles, it really doesn't take any extra effort to include sentences and punctuation in your posts.
As for your original question, why are you modding the stock motor if a swap is in the works? Save your money for the RB swap since most of the stuff you buy for a KA isn't going to carry over.
Don't bother with anything relating to the airbag system if you aren't going to run an airbag wheel. It's either all or nothing, the system won't work properly missing one of the bags.
Does Vermont require vehicle inspection? If so, you'll probably need to replace the entire airbag system to pass.
Most, if not all, unibody cars have subframes, and the 240 is such a beast. If the car took a hard, angled hit in the front you'll be doing a lot more work than replacing the front subframe to get it straight. You'll probably need to replace the whole front clip, but I'd take it to a good frame shop and see what they have to say about it. Good frame guys can pull a pretty crunched car back to damn near perfect.
Buy a used radiator. Don't upgrade until you have to.
You need to do a lot more research before you jump into a project like this, and you may want to reconsider starting with a car that took a hard hit. Everything from here on out will be difficult and expensive, and that's just to get back to stock. There are tons of 240's around and there's no reason to kill yourself trying to rebuild a totaled one as your first automotive endeavor. You've come to the right place to get advice, but you need to spend a little more time articulating yourself. Take time when you post. Read what you typed. You'll get a much better response that way. Take this thread and the last one (you know, like the one where we told you not to get this car...) as a lesson. Horrible english skills will result in people skipping over the thread or just posting stupid crap.

I thought this was a joke earlier as well , or is it the same paranoia I have with phantom craigslist sellers.
I need the voice of Scruffy in my head, reasoning all future purchase decisions as well.
This thread makes my brain hurt more than reading 17th century source documents
As one of those that said "don't do it!!!", I now say good luck its going to take quite a bit to to fix that sucker to be drivable.
As a former owner of a 240 I hope you have better "mad tyte drifting skills" than the guy that wrecked that car in the first place.

Wow really buddy. I'm glad you're going to Wyotech or UTI but don't know which and am also glad you're asking for advice yet last time you asked for advice here 0 people told you to go ahead with the trade and 7 told you not to trade. You traded.
Actually I would have traded too unless it was a GSX, but I would have had a plan to fix it. Your first step is to find a donor subframe.

Ah damn I should have known. I thought he might have forgotten to tighten his lugnuts or something.

no way dood, that was clearly a case of stick on hood scoop getting clogged by the lambo door hinge grease..
Oh and BTW ninja, if you ever come back to this thread...

one of my dreams....look into it. If I had a chance to go back and start an education at wyotech or UTI, this is one of the things Id really try to make happen while I was there.
