The one on the left definitely looks like a Dauphine, the other one 'maybe'

In reply to Grtechguy:

I had a '60 (I think) Dauphine. Worst car ever. 3 on the floor with some sort of phenolic clutch. Rear engined, water cooled. Girls thought it was cute, that was it's only redeeming factor. Maybe worth a look if you have the time, talent & $ to do some major re-engineering.

Northstar from a FWD Caddy. What's French for Shogun? Or tell people it was an early prototype Clio Sport.

If you have enough ambition you can use that box truck in the back ground as a car hauler for them as well

5.3 LS from a Malibu or Impalla SS bolted to the F40 transmission from the Cobalt SS. Apparently lots of Fiero guys doing this.

I am actually sort of looking for a Dauphine. Not hard enough to travel for one or anything but if one comes up relatively local I will probably buy it.

Came across a Dauphine in a local junkyard last winter. It was in fairly decent condition which was a suprise. I suddenly had visions of blasting through the forest in it.

If someone really, REALLY wanted me to do it, I could dig out a contemporary Road & Track Road Test. I recall it being pretty funny.

Um.... I know where one is in a farmer's field. Sure, it's a rear engine. But after three days with a tape measure, I couldn't find a modern engine/trans that would fit. them things are freaking tiny, you know? I came to the conclusion that there was enough room out back for a Saab V-4. Or maybe, a Geo 3-cylinder. Or a Honda E series. You know, the 1.3 liter. Either of these into a VW transaxle. But that's about it. There's just no room. On the other hand, if you're willing to live with the power curve of a Huyabusa.....
