I have pretty much the same truck, 5 years older w/o 4WD, but this one's pretty.
That's a nice truck. I'm not really sure why they're referring to it as a "time capsule". Heck, it's ten years newer than mine!
That's a given. Hey, doing better than my buddy with a new Tundra, he's on his second wiring harness replacement. Tree huggers like soy base wire covering instead of plastic. Mouse Buffet!

Same thing happened to my coworkers 17 Tundra. Toyota didn't cover it, but his insurance did. They had to replace the entire harness in the truck for some reason. I think I would have just had them repair the part that was chewed on instead of the $5k+ for the entire harness.

Yup. I always loved this style of GM truck. Probably because I learned to drive on one.

It doesn't have a shredded interior, the bed isn't tied together with strategic use of ratchet straps, and it appears that it has rocker panels, which implies that you can open the doors without having to roll the window down so you have a place to push up so you can get it to shut again.
This chassis tended to age hard.
Friend of mine did the frame of his Chevy 3500 with some kind of black paint, may have been a rust neutralizer. Looks good, makes you feel better; that would be first on the list.
OK, so who needs a 1990 Scottsdale?
While I think it is a good truck, I think you can do better. I just bought a 94 Fordzda Branger with 88k and all the options for $4k. Similarly, my last truck was an 02 F150 with 93k for $4500.
I wouldn't hesitate to snag it if it's what you're looking for though. The TBI 350 makes barely 200hp while getting 13mpg, but it will run a long time. The TBIs just suck hardcore. You can pick up 15 hp and 2 mpg swapping backwards to a Qjet which I have seen done many times in non-smog areas.
I would say show up with $4500, offer $4k, seller will get ticked, then flash the $4500. My guess is you'll drive it home. Judging by the ad, the seller is really waiting for a sucker to give him what he wants for his super-special truck. If it is just as super-special to you, pay what you want, but (at least around here in central PA) that is a $4000 truck at best.
Seller seems a little inflexible. He also revealed his hand.... one person came to look at it and didn't cough up the $5300 "so don't waste my time." Translated: "I'm waiting for a sucker, but after one guy low-balled me I decided to be a jerk to make you think it's worth more money."
This whole ad TO ME can be translated as: "Grandpa died and all I got was this wheezer pickup so I'm going to try and get a premium for it."
Given the location, I can't help but think all that thing did was tow horse trailers. I'd be very mindful of the transmission.
Pass…the bed height is too low to guarantee death should you dump a dirt bike while loading and the grill isn’t garish enough to definitively broadcast your adequacy issues so that thing’s spraying fail out of both ends…lease a 2019.
What are you talking about? That truck is all about "understated elegance." It's an American classic. A little respect, eh?

I shut the door on the plow truck last weekend and a 6"x2" piece of pinch-weld from under the cab fell off. So I'll second that.

Doubt he missed it. The seller probably either got so many lowball offers... or no offers at all and he's reconsidering. It will be back at $4900 soon I would guess.
So many times with those older, low-mileage vehicles the sellers' opinion is that they have a "vintage survivor unicorn" when what potential buyers see is a malaise-era vehicle that may be a nightmare full of electrical and gasket repairs.
If someone bought it, they overpaid by $1300. (now watch... 914 driver will show up and say, "I bought it, that's why it's deleted." Then I'll feel like a buttwipe)
