Just so everyone knows, extrapolating South Florida/Miami area to the rest of the state is about as accurate as saying that NYC accurately represents Upstate New York.

Hmmm maybe I am a weirdo because everything people have listed are reasons why I love it here.

I actually have no idea what you mean about the orange vests! Maybe that's why I am happy here, I have yet to meet one of them. Unless you're talking about all the road construction??
You live in Tampa and are unfamiliar with the berkeleying army of panhandlers at every major intersection??? Weird.
Can you blame them for going where tourists have spare money to make them go away? If panhandling were a job, Florida has to be one of the best places for it. I'd rather them be asking me for a buck than them making some shake 'n bake meth in the back of a van somewhere.
There are some odd vehicular trends in some areas. My town has the Palatka Lean. That description is usually fairly spot on.
The job market kinda sucks all over down here. It's a good place to be self employed, though.

It's like going to the Zoo, it's a nice place to visit for a while and take pictures to remember. But after a while the smell of all the wild animals kinda over powers the novelty of watching a bunch of monkeys fap all day.
time change sux here fallback/springforward wish it stayed same
For me, 30 years in Florida. 4 years in Tampa, rest in SoFla. I live in Ft. Lauderdale, the nicest part of the area. Miami is truly another country. Not just the people, but the politics, the driving, the job market, are all dominated by the huge Latin population. Going there is really like visiting another country. Accept that, it can be a very beautiful place. Looking for a job there? Fluent Spanish is a job requirement, no joke. Ft. Lauderdale has decent people, very pretty areas, fair job market, and nice beaches. GREAT fishing. What you Northerners brag about catching, we use for bait. Himmarshee area of downtown is much better than South Beach for entertainment. All things considered, a nice place to live. August is a real Beyatch for heat and humidity, and we do get hurricane scares and occasional really nasty weather. But, Sebring is just a few miles away, as is PBIR. Dragstrips, too. Given my choice, I would live in deepest South Dade, just north of the Keys, but wife will not hear it. Too many snakes, gators, iguanas, and illegal migrants.

Congrats, your 2 months out of the year are as nice as the other 10 down here.
1- really old conservative people
2- backwoods hicks (of which I am one, but they re-define redneck)
3- the water tastes like sewage
4- complete lack of landscape
5- high heat + high humidity = hell no
6- disproportionately high cost of living for what you get
Its as if the state doesn't have its own identity. The turnover of its citizens is worse than an omelet at a breakfast buffet
