What engine is this? Lexus GS400

I was looking up Lexus V8s. 
 

I think this should be a 1UZ , but I thought the intake/throttle body was on the side of a 1UZ. Not the front. 
 

Looks like a 1UZ-FE to me. 

The 3UZ's (430 series cars) had a front/center inlet that included variable intake length geometry. That what it looks like. Could have been some of the later 1UZ's had the same intake.

That was the earlier ones. They switched to the one you pictured I think in 98.

That's the setup the older LS400 had.

If the switch was indeed 98 then that would coincide with variable valve timing on the engines.
