I'd prefer something indoor that doesn't take up a lot of space or look to cheesy. Regardless of what model or brand I look at, the reviews range from "worst antenna ever" to "so clear and so many channels, I dropped cable." Are amplified ones worth the extra cash?

Will one of these do the trick?

You might want to find out how far you are from the towers you want to pull in, as most antennas are rated by range. Buy the longest range one you can afford, I says. That's what I did before switching to cable. Going from a smallish antenna to a big one made a huge difference. I would think even though you are now dealing with digital signals, you still have to GET that signal.

Then read here - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=25

And Finally buy here - http://www.solidsignal.com/cview.asp?mc=03&d=over-the-air-tv-antennas-supplies&c=TV%20Antennas%20-%20Indoor%20Only

At least that's what I did for my outdoor antenna.

OK, step one was the coolest thing ever. Now, on to step two.

I have a Terk non-amplified antenna that works well in my area: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=terk&hl=en&prmd=ivns&resnum=3&biw=993&bih=588&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=10312921345373044459&ei=i8VaTdKHC4bAtgeQ7fi_Cw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CIMBEPMCMAM#

Small indoor antennas are a waste of time and money.

Get this.

Put it in the attic if you want or outside

I've got one of those under my coach for when the cable goes out. Big sucker, pulls in three channels here in southern, central Ct. Lots of hills between me and the broadcast towers in Hartford.

That all depends on where you live. A small indoor antenna works great at my house.
