What kind of car for an 82 year old grandma?

How about asking Grandma what kind of car she wants?

Bumper?

I recommend getting her a Miata, Locost, or Ariel Atom if she's a serial bumper car player; any of these will remind her to be completely paranoid of other drivers. Just kidding - I have to agree with this:

Boxmobile.... just sayin!

In all likely hood this will be her last car, before she retires from driving. Since you were nice enough to help her choose it, perhaps she might sell it off to you for a sweetheart price when she decides to hang up the keys. Maybe a nice caddy CTS-V? Whatever you get make sure it doesn't have a bunch of overly complicated gizmos on the dash. Nice, simple and safe. Hyundai Sonata, Subaru Legacy, Camry, Accord.

How about a nice Oldsmobile? Oh, wait. They stopped making those. Maybe a Buick?

Hey Laddie ! Have you not seen Top Gear where the presenters Mums were schooled in the art of a proper donut?

I grew up riding in the back seat of my Mom's Buick Wildcat, Rivera(x2) and Centurion. Not manuals but those cars could and did fly with Mom driving.
