Got this in an email today:
1hr of Assetto Corsa? DCS maybe?
Or maybe just Job Simulator? This actually seems like a really close match to what they're describing:

That's an interesting email.
I'm assuming it would be focused on some sort of trade or manufacturing or something, but I love the idea of it being a more serious version Job Simulator.
man, i hope nobody tries to create a simulator of my job... it involves alot of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, youtube/netflix, GRM browsing and games on my iphone...
David S. Wallens said:JG once found a sim that hit a little too close to home regarding our 9-5.
Oh damn, I was just thinking about that the other day.
Yeah, Playboy: The Mansion for PS2. Billed as a simulator of what it's like to live the "Playboy Magazine" lifestyle, I rented it once because maybe there'd be boobs. Turns out it was pretty much just a sim of scheduling photo shoots, paying freelancers, designing magazine covers, setting up interviews, filling out distribution spreadsheets, etc. No amount of boobs were going to make up for that.

From wikipedia's description:
"Each month, the player has to print an issue of the magazine. To do that the player needs a cover shoot, a centerfold, an essay from a celebrity, interview with a celebrity, a pictorial about a subject and an article about a subject. The player must hire photographers and writers to create each issue. All the characters have interests, such as sports and music, and writers on those topics will produce higher-quality articles."
In reply to JG Pasterjak :
Replace "celebrity" with "Randy Pobst" and I think you pretty much get our business model.
So I looked into this a bit and screen-ripped the list of available jobs for simulation:
I see some jobs there are existing "serious" sims for (driving trucks, farm equipment, auto mechanic work, heavy equipment operator, even being a nurse!) but some I've never seen sims for and sound like they could scarcely be played with a straight face (Front desk clerk? Process engineer? Room attendant!? Manual machinist which turns into a hilarious carnival of destruction for any untrained player? Stick Welder AKA BoogerWeldStorm Infinite?)
I'm kind of curious to try some of these although not necessarily for legitimate career reasons...
