There have been a few music threads lately and it seems that most people love to hate some kind of music. Granted, it's justified in the case of Bob Seger,  Bruce Springsteen, and many others I can easily think of, but I'm sure there are some interesting ones for interesting reasons.

So let's hear it. What song, band or type of music drives you insane when you hear it, and why?

Recorded jazz. Live jazz is fine, but as a general rule I can't stand the stuff. The more scat the worse it is.

Anything with autotune sets my teeth on edge.

I grew up with the Beatles.  I heard every song 100x.  WXRT radio in Chicago has played a breakfast with the Beatles Saturday morning show for the past 40 years?

I don’t “hate” them - I just can’t take hearing their songs any more except for Back in the USSR.

I started the Bob Seger thread but didn’t admit I can’t stand Night Moves and Old Time Rock & Roll.

This. Plus a million.

Pretty much, if you hear it on a TV show like American Idol or any of its dozens of clones, I’m going to hate it. Manufactured pop of any flavor is just awful.

But I can find something I like a lot in any other style of music, from classical to country to punk to hip hop to jazz to industrial to bluegrass to rock to blues to folk to metal to ska to swing. And anything in between.

Most grunge is highly irritating. Can't stand Pearl Jam, usually will switch the station if Nirvana plays too. Punk rock also turns me off, be it "real" punk or radio punk, with very few exceptions.

I don't think there has been a genre of music that hasn't connected with me at some point. Even manufactured pop crap music has at times made a connection. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of newer mumble rap and as a general rule I don't enjoy the piano in music although solo it can be great. Nothing that I really hate but plenty that I will change the station on.

Hardcore gangsta rap.  I hear enough about bitches and hos at work.

This part pop/r&b/rap/country crap on the radio today for the most part.  One or two of the guys have some pretty good stuff.

Beatles and pink floyd: cant stand them.

Really, though, i can find something redeeming in almost every musical genre.

Modern pop country AKA bro-country. Since I live in backwoods Idaho, that is all I hear blasting from lifted bro-trucks covered in Mossy Oak camo.

That and all pop music. It's music designed for commercial consumption by the uncultured masses.

Metal 4 lyfe! \m/ \m/

*most* of what you hear on the radio these days. There's a few gems here and there but for the last five years, short of a few artists, 70% of "music" that's on the radio has been garbage, regardless of the genre.

Not that all new music is bad, but it's just not being played on the air. I hate to be a hipster but if you're not mainstream, you're probably making really good music.

As far as what I can't stand, I'll echo a lot of other people here. Bro country, Mumble rap, autotune, anything by The Weeknd, pop punk.

A lot of pop music, especially '80s pop, bro-country, Nickelback/Creed style stuff.

I used to say I was determined one day to have Steve Miller's larynx nailed over my mantlepiece. I've gotten older and calmer, or lazier, or maybe I just get "Fly Like An Eagle" played at me less often these days.

Most genres have bright spots somewhere.

I can tolerate most anything except Christmas music.

There's a lot I don't listen to and I can relate to most of the posts here. I'll change stations with impunity for a song I don't like, to the point of shouting "NO!" before I push the channel button. Sometimes I'm repeating "NO!" as I switch from channel to channel to find something better.

But 'tis Christmas music what makes me grind my teeth and punch other peoples' offspring.

Forget everything else. Christmas music is the worst. Possibly because my mother and sister both play the same 3 CD's every year nonstop from Halloween until Groundhog Day. Hate isn't even close to a strong enough word.

I can’t stand jazz.  A good friend of mine,  who is a musician,  said if you don’t like jazz you don’t understand music.  Well I don’t care,  I still can’t stand jazz.

Any country that’s newer than the 60’s not made by cash, nelson, jennings or jerry reed.

Toby Keith can go to hell.

He can take the eagles(minus joe walsh), fleetwood mac, rush, nickelback, and creed with him

I actively despise the Beatles. Much of the same reason.

As far as what music do I hate? Lazy music. Any time you can tell someone is just cashing in on a trend. Every single nickelback song after how you remind me, anything lil whoevertheberkeley off soundcloud, that sort of thing. If you're gonna do your genre, do your berkeleying genre.

Also- I'm tough and you're not. See beatdown, and godsmack. I dont give a berkeley about how tough you say you are. Be tough. Be Dave grohl's E36 M3 getting broke on stage and finishing his set.

That is a total load of elitist musician bullE36 M3. As a musician myself with multiple cds recorded with songs ive written.....im not a fan of jazz. I understand jazz....which makes me like it less.

The music i cant stand is Country, specifically new country. I love the Bro Country thing since ive always called bands like Five Finger Death Punch Bro Rock
