Add a built 455 with a 4 speed and 5.13 gears, strip the paint and do it in dark grey primer over matte black.

One of these.. IN light green with green vinyl top, green interior, white wagon spoke wheels, shackled up with straight pipes..
A guy I went to high school with had the exact car I'm describing and it was amazing. It would have a pile of dead squirels around it because they would die from it's sheer awesomeness.
God I love this board.
Big block Ford powered hulks move to the front of the line please, only because I like that motor for cheap torques. That white/white T-Bird is especially repugnant. I like it.
The Caddys look better with every suggestion. I've always had a soft spot, but I never thought of them in this light. That '70 DeVille would look so very right flat black and nasty.
The C4 Vette idea is certainly an interesting one. The fact that is has potential to be actually fast, and not just fast-sounding, is especially enticing.
A two door '70s Lincoln (I wouldn't even begin to guess model names) with 10" wide steel wheels at all four corners. 460 is requisite. (not unlike the '70s Tbird post above but with panache!)
Clem
Lincolns are high on the list. I have a thing for Lincolns.
But man, that Satellite in my first post... It's just so nasty. I can't get over it. I may have to find a Torino for the Ford twist on the theme.
My suggestion would be big-block '70s T-bird or Lincoln Mark-whatever (same car underneath). Early '70s had 429s or 460s, late '70s had 400Ms, either way, you can't go wrong (and Trick Flow will sell you aluminum heads for either).

That would make a great starting point for a clone of T-bird's car from The Crow.
This car has been stuck in my head since 1978-ish.
One of the concrete guys I knew owned a white one with dual glass packs and the rear ended lifted up with air shocks. He claimed he could rev it up on lower Wacker drive (watch Blues Brothers first movie) in Chicago and crack some of the bulbs.
Of course, we didn't believe him, but that sound along with that car is always being replayed in my brain.
My buddies in high school had between three of them a 1973, 1974 and 1976 Grand Prixs... Big awesome fule killers.

It died with disco. Don't forget to do big and littles with about 2in of tire sticking out from the rear fenders.
Pretty much ANY domestically-built 4 door sedan, or better yet, a WAGON, built AFTER 1972. Why? HUGE bumpers, even on the smallest cars, and it's so old, folks SHOULD know you don't care what happens to it.
For inspiration, rent the movie "Uncle Buck"
After driving Dad's recently aquired 84 Crossfire C4, I would love to get my fingers on one and do an LR4/4L60E swap into it to make a killer DD. LSx power, small displacement, 300+hp and tall overdrive to get retarded highway mpg. Cheap, simple and uber fun.

It's been a while (although that was one of my favorite movies when it came out), remind me about that car. All I recall is a giant supercharger sticking out of the hood, which is an idea I can get behind.
I'm going to assume it's already been said (if not, I'm ashamed of all of you,) but an uncorked rotary anything will make children fear you, and adults stab their ears out.
Small ratty pickup? A 70's f100/150 would fit the ford requisite, most of the ones on the road are scary as hell, the boxes are usually almost completely rotted away so big smokey burnouts are super easy (No weight on the rear end). Same goes for sideways shenanigans. You could also do shorty pipes pretty easily, exiting in a number of locations, including stacked out of the box..... add black steelies to that and a warmed over SBF or BBF... bonus points for ratty grille guard with working OG KC Dayliters.
In reply to alex:
I actually dont remember the specifics either... I just remember that they called him T-bird because that was the car he drove. That and the character seemed like the aura you are trying to project (nothing personal )
It sits about three miles from my house, dude has a '70s era Indy Pace Car as well that hasn't been driven in forever.
I vote for Big Ol Cadillac. They're cheap. And I can tell you that nobody gets in your way when they look like this.
Maybe not fast, but everyone loves a big old Caddy. Mine only has the 429, the big 472 didn't come out until the next year. But the interior of the 1967+ cars isn't as cool as my '66.
What you need is something demo derby / road warrior esque.
