I still visit ADVrider daily, but it's become SJWADVrider and is not the place it used to be before Baldy sold out.

I admin a group on FB for a car model, so am there daily, but the platform as a whole sucks compared to traditional forums.

The once great Corner-Carvers forum is just a shadow of it's once egocentric self.

Playing with common Ford products now, I usually just Google search whatever I'm looking for and I can find an answer with not much digging. Old stuff on the classic Mustang forums is typically helpful for most questions about pre-1973 Ford things.

Does stack exchange count? That's been since the last developer job, anyway

Some car model specific forums when google/YouTube doesn't have what I need and I have time to wait, but that's happily very rare.  There's nothing much going on anywhere else, the Z4 stuff is all British so that's no good for parts sourcing, either. And no ADHD facebook for me, I have enough problems on my own.

saabnet.com is the only other forum I use on the regular.  I mostly use Reddit for forum type stuff now.

i go on the europa forums purely to buy and sell parts, other than that, I used to go on ApexSpeed a lot, but I haven't lately. Not for any particular reason, just haven't felt like it

Rennlist, AdvRider and here are my main three, sometimes ClubTouareg.  If I own a BMW, bimmerforums, VWVortex when I have a VW (not touareg)

I spend a fair amount of time on here.

The other sites I frequent daily are Overland Bound's forum and iRV2.

I used to spend a fair amount of time on ADVrider. I still check in every month or two.

When I'm in the boating frame of mind, I check in at TheHullTruth.com

Don't laugh, but r/steroids is one of the most consistently knowledgeable, supportive and uplifting communities I'm aware of.

The quality of a community seems to depend heavily on the quality of the people moderating it.

A disturbing trend I've noticed is the requirement to buy a membership before you are allowed to post or see information.

I got Rosie.  I went to join the 67-72 Chevy Trucks forum in December '23 or Jan '24.  Im still waiting on approval to post.  After some heavy googling it appears the most reliable way to join and be able to post is to pay for Premium Membership.  I'll pass, thanks.

Then I found my antique G.E. desk fan and went to join the only site I could find that has info.  Joined, saw something about Premium Membership, ignored it.  Three or four days later and my email amd password don't do anything.  I'm not even a member anymore.

Berk 'em.  I refuse to pay when I can't even join and see the quality of the forum and its moderation.  I'll figure out what Rosie needs, and I wont even bother restoring my fan, it'll look how I want it to look

And that reminds me.  Need to renew my membership here.

Slant six.org - these guys helped out a lot when the Dart's engine had a shot main bearing and a cracked block. Several members went through their spare parts and gave me an engine block, two crankshafts, and several other bits and pieces.
