What Power drill?

I have a Bosch 18V and love it! With two power packs I can have one charging as I use the other. I've been able to buff my race car and prep my trailer for paint with it. When buffing not having a cord is great and the trailer is stored at a outdoor yard without power. With two fully charged batteries I had about 45 minutes of run time which worked out just rignt.

I have a few B&D FireStorm tools. Just a wee bit over 2 years old. Came with 3 battery packs. 2 of the packs died within a few days of each other. The other pack is getting weak. New batteries are $$, and replacing just the 3 packs will cost more than I have in the whole set.

My next set of tools will be something of much higher quality. My father has a Hitachi drill that I LOVE. It's from before the days of lithium ion. It's one of their NiMH jobbies. That sucker will break your wrist if you don't watch it. If they made any improvement when they switched battery chemistry, then one of those suckers should just about rip your arm clear off. He's been using the same single pack since he got the drill years ago. Charges up in 15 minutes. THAT is what I'm looking for.

Just picked up a crazy 6AMP corded drill for $20. This thing can double as an impact gun!

ive had a 14.4v 'xr' pack dewalt 1/2" for about 14 years that's been a great tool. i went a few years without needing it much and the batteries were dead, bought a pair of 'xrp' batteries on ebay for about $95 shipped 2 years ago and its been great since.

my most important criteria are first and foremost excellent trigger control (generally reserved to higher $ brands), 1/2" chuck, replacement battery cost, multiple tool battery interchangeability, and then overall balance in my hand. i'd probably go with an 18v now as theyve come down a lot, but when i got my 14.4 the 18v stuff was crazy money.

Time to hang a mirror. And if my damn soft top ever gets here replace that!

That's the same drill I have. It should do everything you need it to do.

Replace the Ryobi 18v with a Hitachi 12v, and a sweet grey kitty with a mean old fat orange kitty, and we had the same scene at our house the other night.

Glad someone brought up the simple question "What are you going to use it for." They had a bunch of 'em on display at Lowes. I went in there with the intention of grabbing an 18v lithium, but holy crap there are some really sweet, small ergonomic ones that are a way better fit for my shop. The BOSCH 12v lithium was the E36 M3 as far as being lightweight, balanced, and fitting in your hand nicely (call me weird, but these things are important to me,) but for the same price as the Bosch ($150,) the Hitachi came with an impact.

Hot damn, the drill works freaking great. The batteries for the Deeewalt have slowly been E36 M3ting the bed for the last year or so, so I'd gotten used to a slow piece of crap.

Anybody ever use no-name replacement batteries? The 9.6v sell for $30 or so, and I hate to just ditch the dewalt.

I have this as well. I was looking at the DeWalt kit at the same time, and was swayed to this because it had a full metal chuck instead of the plastic that Dewalt had. I like it so far.
