Just picked up a 4 door 5.5ft bed Turbo sport vehicle.   It goes in for bed lining on Tuesday evening.

What tonneau cover do I want?       I need access to the bed and prefer easy to remove if needed.

I've had aluminum trifold covers in the past and hated them.    Also, don't see fiberglass 1 piece working.

I love the vynil rollup soft tonneaus. I put the cheapest on ebay on my stepside. Buy one a little better than that, lice an access or truxedo.

I had one of the vinyl rollup ones on a Ranger.  I think it was an Extang? Had an aluminum frame that clamped to the top of the bed rails and a couple of bows that went across the bed at the 1/3 points.  The only issue I had with it was that if I rolled it up for a few hours in cold weather (below 40*F) I couldn't stretch it back out to the full length to snap it down unless I left it unrolled in direct sun for an hour or so.  Otherwise it was waterproof and did what I needed.  With the frame you could still open the tailgate without having to undo the tonneau cover.

Had a hinged Extang Full Tilt on my '14. https://www.extang.com/p-36832-full-tilt-snapless.html

Takes two minutes to remove by one person, no tools required. Snapless version rolls up too. Pretty versatile.

Went w/ a MX-4 hard folding tonneau on the new truck for security.

In reply to Grtechguy : Believe it or not it’s well documented that a cover will hurt fuel mileage1-2 mpg.  It has to do with the air bubble over the bed of the truck.  Watch Myth busters if you want documentation

If you want it for security something hard is safest but a royal pain to live with.  I used canvas roll ups for nearly a decade and a half until I saw mythbusters.

Dad has the vinyl tri-fold (Trifecta) covers on his.  I like them for ease of use, but like any tri-fold, they still block 1/3 of the bed.  I had a snap-down vinyl one on my Sonoma that I liked, but like has been mentioned, they are a sonofagun to snap when cold.  The only one I really would like is the garage-door kind that is segmented aluminum or fiberglass and rolls into a case at the front.  That maximizes open space but is still easy to cover the whole bed quickly.

I had an extang roll up one with a frame, and saw the same issues mentioned about getting it snapped when cold.

I used to snap it as much as I could and then would dump a pan of warm water on it to let it stretch and finish snapping.  That worked even in the dead of winter.

Truxedo roll up. Easy to use, completely out of the way when you're not using it, awfully close to waterproof. Lifetime warranty, too, which I'm about to test on my 8 year old one. A couple of the near hurricanes have taken their toll.
