How true. Not to derail the thread, it makes no sense to me to outlaw a tool that's been misused. What if the guy had used a claw hammer?

I've always thought about it this way:

If 100 babies are born on a given day, and 99 of them turn out "normal", then that's a pretty good deal. Anybody would sign up for those odds. But the actual odds aren't that good, and there are a lot more than 100 babies born every day.

Yeah, those look like pretty good odds. Guess it's like having billions of cells in the body then getting cancer. Relatively speaking only a few are cancerous but man do they wreak havoc on the rest of it.

This sums it up pretty well.

Earlier today, some news sources were saying the ax dude in NY wasn't terrorist related. Seems the NYPD says otherwise.

The death of a thousand cuts... I think that's what the ultimate aim of this is. Not that I think it will rise to that level, end Western civilization etc but unfortunately I don't think this will be the last of these attacks.

One pundit said something this morning which made sense: there are people here in America who think Hitler was the cat's meow. He wrote one book and died 70 years ago, yet still exerts an influence over some people. It's not Hitler doing it, it's in the minds of these so called followers. So how do we expect to do anything with ISIS or other militant groups using social media to advance/spread their cause? Answer: it's not possible. It's due to stupid human tricks ultimately and that can't be fixed.

i believe they would be if they happened within earshot of a congressional session (the equivalent government complex).

and i believe if they take out any authority figure, is usually makes regional news at least.
