I'll be visiting a buddy out there in a few weeks.  My friend is a gear head too. I don't intend to thrash my body with skiing.  Any cool suggestions of stuff to do?

You always have some snowmobiling but really that time of year is about skiing and beer drinking.

If you aren't into skiing or snowboarding, snow-shoeing can be a lot of fun.  It's like hiking with giant paddles on your feet to keep you above the snow.  Go with a friend or two though.....as you can get stuck and that could end.......badly.

They race on the ice in Georgetown, but besides that and the Bridgestone Winter Driving School in Steamboat Springs, there isn't a whole lot of automotive stuff going on in the mountains.....not in the winter at least.   Plan on dealing with crowds and traffic---- you're heading into their busiest time of the year.

Breckenridge is a cool little town, with plenty of small shops / restaurants / bars to check out.  The Breckenridge brewery was always a fun place to hang out.  If you aren't into outdoorsy type stuff, just relax, have a few drinks, relax in a hot-tub and enjoy the scenery and atmosphere.

Ski.  Ski some more.  Then ski again.

G'town lake may not be frozen by then and the Bstone driving school (In Steamboat) may not be open yet.

So, yeah, ski.  Or snowboard, or go sledding.

How about sledding/tubing?  Any good places for that?

If it's a weekend, plan on 4-8 hours of traffic round-trip to Breckenridge from Denver. Leave as early as possible if you're going up on a Saturday morning; like 6:00am-is-too-late early. The amount of transplants on the roads here is staggering, and the Texas and California varieties of them usually have suspect tires/wipers.

There's a sledding/tubing hill in Frisco on your way down Hwy 9. Otherwise, as mentioned... ski, snowboard, snowshoe, drink. Repeat as needed. Maybe eat a little bit too.

There was a municipal ski jump in Frisco when I lived there in 89. The high school had meets there regularly. It was worth watching

Only if you're going the same direction as everyone else. Driving to Denver on Saturday and back towards Breck on Sunday is wide open sailing.

When I lived in Frisco I worked at copper mountain, most conversion vans in the ditch along I-70 had Texas plates
