Headed for S.D. the end of the month and wanted some insight about the place. Good places to eat or see? And bad places to avoid.

Looks like I'm just going to miss a cool-looking old Asian car show..

thanks, Stan

The wild animal park and zoo in San Diego is really good if you have kids.

Tons of restaurants down here as well depends on what you are craving. My perfect day is surfing till about 11:00 at Tourmaline, Fish tacos at world famous, a good run around the bay and dinner at wisk and ladle with a cigar on the porch at night But I live here.

Wander around aimlessly saying "Go berkeley Yourself San Diego"?

Personally, I'd visit the USS Midway and try to get a glimpse of some of the other fun things at the navy base.

I wouldn't even know where to start. So many awesome things to do in SD.

Zoo/Safari Park are great if you like that kinda stuff. I've been there so many times I've lost interest.

Balboa Park is a great free afternoon, well until you start going in to museums. Air and Space Museum, Automotive Museum, and the Ruben H fleet Science center are great stops while in the park.

As for food and restaurants, there is also great places everywhere. What part of the country are you from? Everybody I know that left SD goes straight to a taco shop as soon as they come back to visit. Typically the most hole-in-the-wall mexican food places have the best food. Man can live on California Burritos alone. It will be a short life, but well enjoyed.

If you care to observe some good racing you should come down to Qualcomm Stadium on July 26 or 27th for autocross. We have quite a few National Champions run here with their awesome cars. There is nothing like standing a few feet away from the bright green Keisel family Bug Eye Sprite flying by you at full speed. That car defies physics.

Cars and Coffee Carlsbad is every Saturday from 7-9 am. Plenty of eye candy.

BTW- where is this Japanese car show you speak of? I must know!

Zoo; USS Midway; Balboa Park/R.H.F. Science Center; good list of restaurants.

Check.

How about nice beaches?

C_J- in my search for older trucks I saw something about a car show, but maybe it was the Long Beach one. If I find it again, I'll let you know.

Evan- already looking ,(but the wife gave me one of "those" looks when I told her...)
