What to plant around the bottom of the fence, to keep the dogs from digging?

He does have a point about if I'm planting I can dig.

I was more thinking about the obstructions around the fence would end up with a crazy pattern around the obstacles.

Our oddly shaped backyard is really the only thing I dislike about our house. 

I also like the pavers idea, as there is an area up by the gate where I've considered doing this. That way if it rains before I take out the trash, I'm not walking/dragging the cans through mud. 

I think we will go ahead and start with the Tabasco idea. A bottle of Tabasco and a spray bottle is the easiest/cheapest to start with.
