There was a movie, probably early 80's. Some post-apocalyptic time where cars were illegal. Our hero gets fed up with something, and starts attacking the concrete floor of his driveway with a pick-axe. What emerges from beneath the floor is a Can-Am style race car. He rebuilds it and then charges across the countryside. He raises the ire of the government who dispatches some senile old dude to chase him in some wwII style airplane...

The car from Hardcastle and McCormick was a Coyote kit car. A guy down the street from me had a yellow one when I was a kid.

How bad could it be with the likes of Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man!) and Burgess Merideth (The freakin Penguin!) and a porsche Can Am Car? Sounds Oscar-worthy to me.

btw, i'm at 80% on my torrent of "The Last Chase". I found it on SumoTorrent.com (this site has VERY not-safe-for-work ads on it, so use caution...
In the Wraith I always found it funny that the first car to race the interceptor was a Dodge Daytona turbo....with an auto trans . Also funny that out of the gangs cars it was the most modern and the only non V8 car, granted in the race they made it sound like a V8.
