I'm breaking down a tree I fell this week, and refinishing an old wooden ammunition box with a wooden hinged lid on it for a TV stand. I also picked up a cowhide rug today, black with a brown stripe down the middle.

This is something like what I'm going for:

Did the yard work after work all week so I can have the weekend to play. Putting the Opel GT up on ramps and changing the oil and do so retorqueing of some hardware on the engine. Things like oil pan and other things that seem to leak a bit after reassembling and driving it for a while. Then rolling it out for cleaning and detailing. Have an all European car show the following weekend. May even get around to cleaning the RX8 up a little too.

I painted all the trim on my car, cleaned the wheels, replaced a valve cover gasket, and cleaned up the bay some. I removed approximately 32 clips from the hood, and re-attached my super non-functional windshield sprayers.

Buncha stupid stuff, but fulfilling. Back to pulling motors Sunday and Monday.

Pics to follow of the half-assed refreshed MX6.

If I want to take my '90 Miata to this little Miata get-together in Bristol TN the following weekend, I have to put in a new alternator this weekend.

The house. I HATE working on the house with a passion. It's a necessary evil. Replace the kitchen faucet, getting rid of some stuff in the boy's rooms, and weeding out the books. I need to get them down to a manageable number, hopefully less than a thousand.

Toyman, when's it going to be roof time? Willing to help unless it's high summer. I don't want to listen to my blubber bubbling in the heat.

In reply to Curmudgeon:

There is a good chance someone else is going to do the roof.

I'd rather pay someone to fall off it rather than do it myself. Fat people make a mess when they hit the ground.

But fat people bounce nice and funny. Just think: the cash from 'America's Funniest Home Videos' would keep you in race tires for a while.

Clutch master cylinder turned out to be a very easy swap. I'm guessing that I won't be so lucky replacing the slave.

I knocked 2 things off my list today:

  • Miata front BBK installed but needs more bleed
  • RX7 exhaust re hung, not perfect but drivable

I took the 7 for a short ride. Wow, I gotta get a tag for this thing. It is a blast.

2 more things off the list:
- M3 headlights in, they kinda work...only one high beam and the angel eyes don't light up at all
- Shark injector installed in the same M3. I don't notice a difference yet.

I also did a small roll on the rear fenders on my V8 RX7. It isn't perfect but it should let me get to an exhaust shop without shredding my rear tires.

Tomorrow I do the intake manifold and radiator on the 7.

Am I the only one getting things done or just the only one shallow enough to brag about minor E36 M3 I'm doing?

Spent all day yesterday on yard and house work, washed the fleet, etc. Today my bud rebuilt the DCOE from his Spitfire as I stood nearby and clucked. Tomorrow: more of the same old same old house stuff. Helluva way to spend Memorial Day.

I got the E30 mostly back together this morning/early afternoon... then planned to go for a bike ride... but instead spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning dust out of the g/f's window a/c... So the ride will happen tomorrow morning, then I'll hopefully have the BMW running for the first time since I limped it home back in August.

...which reminds me... go get the battery charger... battery has been dead for months...

And I failed.

I got the intake manifold swapped and the old radiator removed but the heat got to me and I stopped before getting the new rad in.

For me, it was a productive long weekend though.

And let's not forget the troops that fought and fight to give us the rights to do what we like to do.

Came down with a cold that killed my productivity. Got the water pump & timing belt done on the Protege, along with the right front upper strut mount, spring, and lower control arm. Have to button things up under the hood and do the other three struts. Dunno if that'll all happen tomorrow since it's supposed to be 99 freaking degrees.

Well I did manage to get all this done to include a trip to HD for some yard supplies for the week. Cleaned and waxed the Opel GT, polished the chrome and windows, cleaned the inside and applied tire black to the side of the tires. Changed the oil & filter, retorqued a lot of engine bolts and cleaned up the engine compartment. Deemed ready for the show this coming weekend. Even got around to cleaning the RX8 including vacuuming and cleaning the bed of my truck to haul car show equipment (canopies, tables and ice chests).

Busted my knuckles doing baby seat fitment in SWMBO's MINI. If it fits in that car, it fits in all our cars. The winner? Graco Snugride 30. Writeup to follow.

Started tearing into the Z but didn't have a lot of time. Had to help my dad move shops I got the hood off, removed the exhaust manifold and turbo, started dropping the suspension so I can switch my lowering springs because the PO installed them backwards , Installed new front brake pads while I was at it. Now I just have to unbolt the motor from the trans and pull the motor. Swap the head gasket on the new motor, and install it. Lots of work to get done in the next 2 weeks.

Nothing fun, but I installed a new Bosch dishwasher in my parents' house so I could have their ~2005 GE to replace the nonfunctional Frigidaire in one of my rental units. I'm pretty impressed with how quiet and well constructed this new one is compared to the old GE.

did a ton of yard work, still trying to make the foreclosure we bought in October look like responsible homeowners live in it. also replaced a bunch of rotten boards in the freebie playscape we got from an old neighbor. had a few beers on sunday evening, then put in 50 miles on the road bike monday morning. spent the rest of the day trying to recover from the dehydration while cleaning out the garage enough to get the Odyssey inside for the aborted alternator replacement.
