What would it take for you to buy a new car?

In my case it was buy something, without the options I wanted, with 50k miles for a 5% discount.........with worse financing terms. So basically a wash.

But I was looking for something very specific and trucks hold their value particularly well in my part of the country.

eeerrrp...Im not sure why you would want canti's over V's...from a sheer physics standpoint alone, the longer lever arm of the V's gives them a noticeable mechanical advantage over cantilever brakes, not to mention the fact that V brakes are tucked into the bike more, and less exposed to objects reaching out and evicting them from the bike.

And the advantages of discs over canti's...dont get me started. If youre sliding off rocks in ways that expose your dropouts/hub flanges to that level of physical abuse, well, Im not sure what to say. In my 7 years as a shop mech, I never once saw a broken disc...chipped or scratched, yes, but never broken.

I'd buy a new car if I could afford it. My wife has a 2008 Armada we bought in 2010 when we were planning to get preggo and hatch a youngern. We traded in her 2005 F150 crew cab for it. I retained the 2000 P71. Then when the other daughter turned 16, she wanted to buy her a new car. I put the kabosh on that real quick. No 16 year old needs a new car. ESPECIALLY her. She has no respect for things given to her and would wrap it around a pole, tree, something. She needs something safe. Her dad (I'm step-dad) and mom bought her a 2008 Focus. Good price, great little car for her.

The wife and I were talking the other day and she said when the Armada's paid off, it's time for me to get a new car. I said, "Cool, I'll get a Mustang or a Cadillac CTS-V, or G8, or something like that." She said, "No you need a truck." Um, I thought I was buying me a new car. I get what I damn well want... And so the argument commenced...
