Whats a good wireless CCTV system for the home? Thanks in advance for any input.
I'm currently using the Blink cameras.
I also have a set of wired CCTV cameras that record to a local DVR. That set is Swann.
What do you want wireless?
Even if you use WIFI cameras you've got to power them somehow, you'll be running a wire to them or changing batteries. Are you just wanting to be able to remotely view the video and maybe get push notifications on a phone?
If the latter, I just installed this Reolink system at our local small town library on Christmas Eve.
Reolink 4MP 8CH PoE Video Surveillance System, 4 x Wired Outdoor 1440P PoE IP Cameras
Used the 4 cameras that came with the kit on the exterior of the building, and added 2 of these to the interior.
Reolink IP PoE Security Camera
It was all a little cheaper when purchased on Cyber Monday. It's all PoE, so all you need is a single ethernet cable for each camera to get power to the camera and signal to the DVR. The user interface is nice, and their web app works well, at least with Android. May not be what you're looking for, but I can wirelessly view the live or recorded video anywhere I have cell service.
I snagged a pair of Wyze cameras for $24 off Amazon. They haven't shown up yet but they are supposedly cool. My ex wife set up a Wyze in her basement on the dog crates so I could see our shared-custody "children" whenever I want. The quality is pretty impressive and it has a two way sound setup so I can talk to my "kids" and confuse the hell out of them. Comes with free cloud storage or the option to stick a memory card in it.
From an earlier canoe thread I also discovered the Alfred app. It works really well but has a ton of ads. It turns your old smartphone into a camera with night vision and two way audio. The neat stealthy thing about it is that if a burglar breaks in, they might look for security cameras, but if they see a smartphone they might not assume it is recording them. I have two old smartphones set up with it in my house, but I'm a little paranoid about using them.... free, questionable, third-party app and broadcasting my personal space over the intarwebs? Too much risk for hackers who may want to spy on my hairy body and all the sex I don't have.
