Friend of mine has a '01 Corolla that just puked it's engine. The car has 134,000 on it and it is straight, no major dents and no major rust.Mechanic quoted him $2400 for motor swap-labor included

If he were to sell it,KBB sez car is worth $3800 if it was still running. We were figuring around $500-$1000 right now as it sits.

What do you guys think?

Wow--odd for a Corolla to lose an engine at 134k. I'd be PISSED.

Sell it to 605--he's a good guy.

Yeah, they'll do that if you don't check the oil. Split the difference: $750. Be sure you get the right motor, vvt or non-vvt.

A 2JZ will drop right in. May have to sawzall one of the fenders and let it hang out one side. Otherwise a bolt in.

It's ironic, my brother just wrecked his Corolla (same generation).

Good engine, etc. but the body, not so much. I'm not sure what he is doing with it, but he is in Fairlee, VT.
