Sorry for the lack of update.  Yes I got the test.  This really nice lady stuck a long qtip up my nose to the point I'm like ok that's uncomfortable but I can deal.  Then the lady next to her said "No push it all the way in!"  That was not what I wanted to hear.  I felt it like two hours later.

So the dealing with BS part.  My coworker that got tested last Monday still doesn't have results.  Think about that.  When you hear on the news that X number of people have tested positive that's now 10 days behind.  Now think about how many the cases go up each day and expect that for 10 more days.

Next BS is my soon to be ex GP doctor.  I started calling them last Wednesday I think.  The conversation would start with me saying I had symptoms.  They would say go get tested.  I would say I don't have high enough fever.  They would say ok well you should quarantine for two weeks.  I would say I am can you give me a letter for my employer.  They would say they didn't have one for that.  Finally Friday they said they would do a tele consult.  They would call me to set it up.  I called Monday after the test and they had no record of it being set up.  I might have been a little shiny happy person at that point but surprise they got me one that afternoon.  I got the letter in the mail today.

That's when the employer BS started.  I sent the letter in and my sup called me.  I'm now officially out as of Monday when I got tested.  So that means the first week I have to take sick/vacation.  They say I can't come back unless I have a negative test or two weeks from when I was tested.  That's with me getting paid on them.  Ok but I should be ready to come back Tuesday as that's when I end my two week quarantine.  Nope they don't want anything to do with that.  I asked him to clarify with HR and I might  be calling them tomorrow.

So TLDR we're feeling good but the system doesn't know how to deal with this even though they had a 3 month heads up.

I just wanted to say that I'm fully aware that I'm lucky to have the job I have in times like this.  I got a call from someone today asking how to handle choices their employer gave them.  I know that a lot of people are hurting right now and this isn't going to turn around anytime soon.  I just want to give info on the process.  If I have to burn a week or so of sick/vacation that's nothing compared to what a lot of people are dealing with.

Glad you are feeling better.  Hang in there.   Easy for me to say, but hopefully this will pass, like a good daily constitutional.

Sorry to hear of all the problems you are going through with work while going through this.

Wife works for company that builds F-22 Raptors. They travel a lot, west coast and Maryland mostly. Close to three weeks ago they started bringing everyone home. Coworker was in California for a few weeks and they brought her back, she wasn't feeling good and luckily never went to the office.

Long story short, she has been at home waiting and on day 9 to get test results. I know the have 45' and now 15' tests ... I don't think they have been deployed here in south Florida yet.

On top of testing not really being where it should, now we got two cruise ships full of people ready to be unloaded.

None of the three of us have gotten results.  I did get a call from HR this morning.  He was basicaly gathering information so he could go to higher ups with my arguement to return Tuesday.  That was assuming a negative test result by then.  If it comes back positive then I'm not sure what they'll say.

I got results back and I am negative.  Good in that I don't have to worry about anyone I might have exposed before I self quarantined.  Bad in that honestly I wish this was it just so that I have the antibodies to it now.  Slight chance of a false negative.  If they come out with an antibody test I'll do it just so I know.

I got word yesterday that I was put on paid leave as of the 24th when I first called out.  That was better than I expected.  Guess they actually want us to be careful.  They were also cool when I said I'd stay out until Tuesday out of an abundance of caution.  That'll make two weeks just in case it's a false negative.  I told them I'd take that on my sick/vacation time.

So TLDR this process was berked up two weeks ago.  I do see signs of things changing in a good way.  My employer ended up taking care of me.  My results were 6 days.  That's a lot faster than my coworkers that tested a week before (still haven't heard from them on their results).

Stay safe and take care of yourselves.

In reply to Stampie (FS) :

That's good, but bad that like most you're not out of the woods yet.

I just watched a video with Chris Cuomo, who has it, and his experience sounds a lot like Captaindownshift's.

Huge weight loss. High fever with hallucinations, and maybe 10 days duration(of the fever). As he says, its no cake walk, but can be gotten through.
