Wheels have arrived. For a no-name Chinese wheel, they don't look bad. The chrome isn't perfect, but way better than expected.
They're also lighter than I anticipated. Bathroom scale says 21 lbs.
I mounted one to check for rubbing/clearance. Looks like we have a winner. Other three go to the shop for mount/balance tomorrow. Now that I have the bling, I need subZ in the trunk to complete the aesthetic. I also need to drop that front about an inch. Maybe I'll stab the airbag with a knife.
But I couldn't let this go without a teaser...
Somehow I'm just now seeing this car. Is there a main thread for it that I missed ?
Not really. It just spiraled from "what wheels" into "everybody look at me because I'm cool and crave attention."

When looking for teh subz I will suggest CT Sounds.
Their loaded Tropo boxes are ridiculously cheap and are very efficient. Their CT series amps are very durable. Also if you are looking to improve your highs and mids their Meso components are fantastic.
I currently have two 8" Tropos in the back of the Silverado and a complete Meso 6.5 3way, 6.5 2way, 2x Meso 8" with a 4x75w and 1x1500w amp with equalizer for the Vette.

I'll give them a shot. My go-to for drivers has been CDT for a while, but I'm always down to try something better.
The bummer is that these cars have the JBL system with the remote amps. The car actually sounds great (except for one door speaker with a rotted surround), but swapping audio can be hit or miss unless you rip it all out and start fresh... which I might do.
I also have some killer tubes I made with 12" sched 40 PVC and whopping 2" MDF baffles. They can adequately suspend some high excursion 10s with 1.21 jiggawatts behind them. Heavy, but amazing. They have some Kicker Comps in them now which are kinda meh.

Me too. The bracket that you're supposed to re-drill also has the brake soft line attached to it. What was going to be a quick trip to the drill press will now have to be a cordless drill and some guessing/swearing
Moment of truth. I read somewhere that for each 1/4" of bracket relocation you get 1" of drop. Factory spec says to measure from the bottom of the wheel lip to the top of the fender arch and you should have 24-24.5". I had 26.5" (which when you factor in my larger wheels, that's actually 25.5".)
I re-drilled the brackets 3/4" down which gave me closer to 2 or 2.5". So now I'm about 1/2" lower than factory spec. I do notice a slightly higher tendency to bounce, which is to be expected for a lower pressure bag, but if I hadn't driven it before the change, I wouldn't notice it. The big thing I noticed different was VISIBILITY. The humped-up hood really made it a long view out the front, but now I can see so much more of the road.
Alignment scheduled for Weds. I also ordered some Centric rotors and pads. I noticed while I was in there that they're definitely due.

Yes! Just smudge the lens on your phone camera before taking a picture. Then the picture is bad enough quality that you can't see the bird crap.
