Sometimes when I lay my noggin on the pillow I built cars in my head to wind down the business of life - beats thinking about the sump pump..........example - how would I build a Datsun 510?
1970-1972 - 2-door, either safety cone orange or that butterscotch color
5-speed dogleg trans
2-liter with Datsun SU side draft carbs, one of those turquoise Nissan factory air cleaners. Maybe send it to Rebello to massage.......
Suspension? Tomorrow night
What goes thru your head?
Concur with the butterscotch.
My dreams tend to be berkeleyed up.
When I dream about cars it is usually me trying to find a car I once owned. I know I parked it somewhere I just need to go get it.
In reply to preach :
Not dreams but thoughts to calm down before you sleep. I probably wasn't clear about that.
It's better than thinking about the kids issues, the foundation crack, the age of your sump pumps, problems with elderly parents.......

I am a huge believer in positive re-enforcenet loops in lif.e
One of the reasons I do projects is to that I can go to sleep with a "win" of some sort. It will be some aspect of the build that worked, or a plan to make it work, but all part of the car hobby therapy that I have built up. I try to make those my thoughts as I fall asleep and also should I wake up with other thoughts on my mind.
I do a lot of design work lying in bed, in the shower, driving, walking...it's a lot easier than trying to do it in the moment, and that extra percolation helps a lot with the end result.

My MGB/GT with a Typhoon/Syclone drivetrain or a Pink Panther 2wd ECOTEC....G'night
I do almost the same thing. I take apart and restore cars in my head before going to sleep. It really helps refocus my brain away from the daily stresses so I can fall asleep.

I don't sleep easily or soundly. Because of E36 M3 like this:

On dream builds, every bolt is new, flawless, and perfectly torqued!
I surf. Catch a wave and try to ride it as long as I can. Just a nice lazy wave that keeps going that you can glide along on effortlessly.
A bit ironic since I can't surf worth a lick to begin with, but I find it calming.

Same. I think through the next few steps on my current projects and picture possibilities in my head what I want it to look like - what would make it as good as it can possibly be. Then when I work on it I can get right to it (I work slow enough that I can't afford to waste time thinking it out as I go).
