I am almost ashamed to admit this, but a few weeks ago I did a quick eBay/Craigslist search for an early Z24 and there were approximately none available anywhere.

I don't love them by any means. I actually had one back in the 80's and it was the worst new car I've ever owned. But if I could find one for $1500 that wasn't an absolute pile, it could be kind of fun for a couple of months.

Depends on the fit and finish. It'd be fun.

My wife had an 88 Z24, loved it! I know it was not the best handling car, but it was fun. I'd love to own another...

I don't even see how 11.5 is a good price. Maybe 8 if the car is uber clean with no rust. But take theprice of the car and the motor, and it dosnt add up. 3.8 swap is uber easy.

You know, you're quite right. Main thing we've learned on this board is that a car is ALWAYS identical to how it was originally manufactured, no matter how well modified it is. Cars can never be equal to or greater than the sum of their new parts and time spent on them.

I'll say this, the car actually looks good. It took me a second to realize what it was. Had GM offered a version of the Cavalier back then that actually looked like that... I doubt anything would be drastically different, but they would have at least made a handsome version of the Cavalier.

I'll throw in a couple bonus points to the builder for getting a real 5 speed manual for this motor.

Without driving it, there's no way to know if it's any fun or not, but I wouldn't immediately rule it out.

I'm not offended by the price, but for the same money there was a '67 Chrysler Imperial 4 door hard top on Bring a Trailer (also in black). I know it's apples and oranges, but apparently 11 grand gets you more oranges than apples.

Other than the wheels, that's pretty much what the exterior of an 88 Z24 looked like.

If I was looking for a new DD I could see buying that. The only thing I would change is to put the gray ground effects back on. You can't have a sporty car from the 80's without them.

For that price, needs to be converted to RWD. Nahmean?
