I like this one better. You have your own crane and a place to put stuff. Of course its 8x8
Now that's a tow vehicle. 12.1L (738 cid) of Detroit Diesel power, probably pull just about any trailer you can hook up.
what is the first one actually used for?
btw.. being auctioned off at 600 some odd miles is a sin. Talk about waste in government

Yeah, you know, it's hot too.
can these even be registered for private highway use? You'd think you'd see them around somewhere if they were...
How cool would it be to pull up to the track and unload your car with a crane?

Actually, you need a rear cargo (or other interchangeable) model to really do anything. That way you can hook up lots of different cargo bodies (or wrecker, or tractor piece), but only need one engine/expensive piece.

I'm surprised at that build date, I didn't think they've made any LVSs for at least 5 years.

Even though it only has 600 miles, it may have spent it's life in a prepositioned cave in Norway, or on a ship. The Marine Corps buys almost twice as many vehicles as they can actually use, because a lot of it is stored in quick-reaction locations.
