Just curious- I have no stake in the game.
I saw a few yellow Intro model Z's for sale on the Nissan site last summer in the $52,000 range. Today there are four in the nation and being built in January.
Just expected to see a few on the road by now. Where we at Nissan?
Nissan doesn't tell us anything but "soon"
Almost 7 months and I haven't seen a Z on the streets. My local guy said they got one and it went to a buyer in California (from the Chicago area).
Sales dude kept stressing how rare the Z is. Whatever, Nissan must have an issue with the design.
We’ve had the same discussion at the office. We’ve had several test cars and I went to the press intro, but I can’t recall seeing one in private hands.
I saw one...just one, briefly on the road. It was dark gray and rather bland. I'd like to see yellow. I have also driven more than 30k miles in just the past 10 months.
I just went to Nissan's website and did the build/price thing and then searched inventory. The site says that within 500 miles of my house, Northern Ohio, that there are only 10 in stock. That is 10 combined for all trim and transmissions combined. Of that: 9 auto trans and 1 manual.
Nationwide, search just defaults to "99+".
In reply to John Welsh :
I did that too - 500 miles from Chicago netted 4 cars. Kinda odd.
Been traveling and cant remember where I saw it, but believe it was in Canada. Black one passed me, it looked great.
A few posts above I mentioned how meh they looked, this black one really made me think that the color matters on these.
No pics unfortunately.
We've had two at work. One sold/delivered last week. Both are black.
I see three in stock within a hundred miles of here (greater Daytona Beach area): two sticks, one auto. Both with the stick are Black Diamond Pearl.
I drive by the Nissan US headquarters everyday coming to work and I think I've seen three? one black one with manufacturer plates, one yellow one driving around town, and a different black one on my (non-Nissan) dealers used lot that was here for all of 24 hours before it sold.
I have seen exactly one of these since the launch with my own eyes, and it was a Seiran Blue model in the local press fleet. That was earlier this year, and I have yet to see one in private hands. I am guessing whatever inventory is around here is being held hostage by local dealer "adjusted market value" markups that no one wants to pay for.
In reply to Tony Sestito :
Cars.com only listed 9 with manual transmissions, and all were 800+ miles from central mass.
Cerritos Nissan (Cerritos, CA) takes top honors for market adjustment in the ones I saw with a stick:
I've seen two around town in the last couple months, a black one and a maroon one. Neither is ever close enough or stationary enough to snag a picture though. They really make me want a late 80s 300zx though.
In reply to No Time :
My local dealer is the same. I think the answer is we're not seeing them because the greedy shiny happy person middlemen are tacking on 50% "market adjustments" and scratching their heads why people aren't buying them. I really don't like how that distorts the US market. "No one buys new sports cars!" is a very different lament than "Dealerships ruined the market so badly that no one buys new sports cars!"
Well, hello, what's this? The mythical Z spotted in the wild at Knoxville Dragway in Tennessee. Note: this was not drag racing as they had Gassers running.
Saw this one a few months ago, metro Detroit.
I saw one here last week. Unfortunately, it was in heavy traffic and I couldn't get close.
In reply to tester (Forum Supporter) :
I had the same problem a week ago. I saw a new GT-R on the road and my wife just couldn't capture it in motion.
Saw a white one a few days ago at an intersection. Sitting in the other lane next to it was a white 04-06 GTO. The GTO got a lot of hate here for being bland, but it looked so much better than the 400. If it was an 05 or 06, it's probably a much better car for the money.
