Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano hinted this week that the body scanners and "enhanced" pat-downs that have caused a ruckus at airports across the country could be coming to a train station, port or subway near you.
In an interview on "Charlie Rose" that aired Monday, Napolitano said terrorists will "continue to probe the system and try to find a way through" when asked what terrorists will be thinking in the future.
"I think the tighter we get on aviation, we have to also be thinking now about going on to mass transit or to trains or maritime," she said. "So what do we need to be doing to strengthen our protections there?"
Napolitano has defended the screening procedures and criticized the protests.
"I really want to say, look, let's be realistic and use our common sense," she said last week, explaining that the screening technology has been in development since before the failed Christmas Day bombing attack last year.
"This is not about the government itself," she said. "We all have a role to play in security."
"And so I really regret some groups saying, 'Well, we don't want to be a part of that,'" she added. "I regret it because it's not what we're all about. What we're all about is shared responsibility."

and from the "Some are more equal that others" file: If you're on this list, you're exempt.
Yet another power grab by those who are suposed to be serving us.
My last trip through Chicago: One guy checking ID, the line literally is 1/4 mile long, no kidding. The TSA baggage X-Ray people are bored waiting for this one guy to pass someone through the ID check, meantime five TSA females are discussing where to send out for dinner! They're all excited about the new Chicken McIdon'tgiveaE36 M3.
Lets have Ms. Napalitano go through that. Now apply this looooong line to a train station.
It's autoload time Bitches.
Bobs Fake News Article:
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano hinted this week that the body scanners and "enhanced" pat-downs that have caused a ruckus at airports across the country could be coming to all railway crossings in the United States. Napolitano said "trains have been running unprotected across our great land for way too long. Each train passes, literally, thousands of vehicles at railway crossings every day. We're concerned that the terrorists may realize they can attack vehicles from the outside, and not just inside the vehicle. Just think what will happen when terrorists realize they do not have to die in their attacks. There will be pandomonium, with hundreds, perhaps thousands of attacks per day. We must stay ahead of the terrorists, and this is the next logical step."
Ms. Napolitano has also announced that she is partnering with NHTSA to investigate requiring the installation of body scanners in all new cars by 2016. These scanners will be linked by satellite to TSA offices in Washington. They will also be linked to the FBI, DEA, and several websites including "Porn on Wheels".
In all seriousness though, what ever happened to those 'explosive sniffing' machines that blew puffs of air onto you to look for explosives. Were they just too inaccurate, insensitive, and unreliable to be used? The body scanners will see knives too, but since 9/11 passengers have subdued many potentials threats, rendering a knife fairly useless for trying to take down a plane. (My apologies if this has already been discussed in another body scanner thread).
