No. The rules they follow are pretty clear, and any drugs like that are not allowed. The only legal drug is alcohol, but even that, you mostly have to buy theirs.

Honestly, I would take a seaworthy 30 or 40 foot sailboat through a storm before I took any of those huge super cruise ships through one. they are not designed for bad weather.

Edited to add: there’s a big difference between an ocean liner (current Queen Mary for example) and a cruise ship. Two completely different ships.
Honestly I think cruising could be done with a high degree of safety now. Testing can be done very quickly now (5-15 minutes) for pretty low cost and high accuracy. Clearly precautions should still be taken, and excursions would have to be eliminated or heavily controlled.
Of course, it would only take one small miss to result in a "ship of death". Realistically though, it more likely be a "ship of sick".

Ok, that's fair. Cruise ships intentionally sail around bad weather. Which still questions why anyone thinks its a big deal. The cruise ships that have been on the edge had made it through without major problems- lots of sick passengers and some broken stuff.
But as of yet, a storm has still yet to sink a cruise ship.
When it becomes a real problem, we will all know.

Our Alaska cruise we saw 20' seas on the way back. It wasn't so bad. The upper decks were a little difficult to walk a straight line on but nbd. I know people love to hate on cruises. Usually people that have never been on one. I usually ignore their ignorance.

yes, you can tell by one feature alone on the QM2. She has a breakwater on the foredeck. The North Atlantic Can be very unforgiving at the best of times.
