I might be doing a little horsetrading for a '53 Ford that's kinda sorta almost close to being a driver more or less. I'm expecting that it will need basically all the suspension/steering stuff gone through - all that roadworthiness type stuff - and I've been told it needs the brakes done and the fuel tank likely cleaned (more likely replaced), along with some interior bits.
Any ideas for parts sources for these bits?

LMC truck catalogs? wait, you didnt say what type of ford...
Ford car, truck, tractor?
Speedway (www.speedwaymotors.com) has some stuff...for trucks anyway.
Flathead... straight 6 or V8?
COOL!

Oh right, sorry. Car. Custom Sedan.
And it's a Y-block V8, though I didn't think those came about 'til '54.

At least I think it's a Y-block...

EDIT: Yeah, it probably is. After comparing pictures, he's got a '54, not a '53.
rebuild and resto parts...
kanter.com is hard to beat in that they have damn near everything. some stuff could probably be found on rockauto.com

Dennis Carpenter for everything like rubber parts, trim doodads, etc. They bought the original tooling for most of the stuff they make and their door seals are the only ones we truck guys will buy. LMC's don't fit worth a damn.

Brakes & stuff like that can be had at NAPA.

For our '49, we got brakes and whatnot from local sources. NAPA, etc will be able to get a surprising amount of bits for it. I'll also second checking the HAMB if you need something odd and can't find it at swap meets/here/etc.
Get on The HAMB, but don't say "rat rod". It's a hot rod site, not a rat rod site. There's a difference and they are sensitive to it.
Alex,
There's a really cool looking '53 2 door on the COMO craigslist right now (no engine, I think) for $800.
Just in case it helps
[edit: I WANT it after seeing it. No good reason...I just want it, but don't need it and can't afford it...let alone the getting-it-running part of the equation]
