I am going there for work on WED, need to eat and waste a few cycles in the evening after work. Good beer on tap is essential.

Any good parks to go for a run in? I'll be staying right downtown.

Haven't lived there since '91, but I liked "It's Greek to Me" and the "Black Forest" (German). "Brits" I think is downtown and they had some pretty good fish 'n chips.

There are a couple of beautiful parks close to downtown. Ask anyone on the street, MN is full of the nicest people in the U.S.

If you are really up for an interesting time, head to Nye's bar/ lounge. It is right downtown and is home to "The Worlds Most Dangerous Polka Band"

I even got a t-shirt!

I'm in Minneapolis as well (1 1/2 blocks from the Black Forest mentioned above) and there are a ton of good places to eat. What kinds of food do you like? Besides american food, we have every ethnicity you can think of and some you can't. Brit's Pub is right downtown and is a good place for beer, a lot of people go there to watch the World Cup these days.

As far as parks go, right on the south edge of downtown is Loring park, it's a couple blocks from the convention center, the Hyatt and Millenium hotels. On the north side of downtown is the Mississippi river, with running paths along both shores. If you go mile or so southwest from downtown you get to the lakes district, where there are miles of great running paths.

Lemme do an update.

Beer- Look up a place called Williams Pub. Also known affectionately as the peanut bar, because if you go to where all the taps are downstairs, there are epic amounts of peanut shells on the floor. They have something like ALL of the beers ever created on tap, and they're icey cold and reasonably priced. Can get trendy as it's in Uptown, and all the hipster douchebags like to part there, but- on a weeknight, it's pretty easy to get a table in the corner with a cold pint. Keep in mind, they all sing along to Bon Jovi for some reason.

Burgers- Matt's Bar on Cedar. Home of the Jucy Lucy. (yes, it's misspelled). Won the Travel channel food face off, with good reason. Burgers cooked on a grill that probably hasn't been cleaned since the FDR administration, this is the epitome of greasy bar food. And they serve probably the coldest PBR i've ever had (If you like cheap beer).

Pizza- Couple of places. You have your Fat Lorenzos, not far from Matts. Been voted top pizza in MN a whole pile of times. Slices as big as your head. Has gotten pricier over the years ( I wanna say it's something like a 20$ for a giant pizza that will feed most of Ethiopia) but WELL worth it. There's also Pizza Luce- though the best pizza from them is had at about 2am at bar close. They specialize in hangover preventing pies.

Chinese- there's a little dive place about 15min south of DT off the freeway called Cathay. You'd never know about it unless you knew someone in the area. Takeout only. Best chow mein you will ever have.

Porkys- burgers? Meh. Chicken? Meh. Fries? Meh. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich? EPIC. Onion Rings? EPIC. Shakes? AWESOME. Go on down there on a Friday or Saturday, and see a whole car show while you're there, this is the premier cruising spot in the Cities. (You want the one on University, NOT the one on Central)

There's always the classy places downtown too... Ruth Chris, Manny's, etc. Steaks that were basically peeled off the cow and handed to you. They're amazing. EXPENSIVE. If/when you do get into town and you need some more ideas, check out City Pages.... it's a free publication you can get most places that offer free publications, and they do a rotating menagerie of food venues there. They've never done me dirty.

As far as running, check out Minnehaha falls. You can ride the light rail there, and there are probably a good 20+ miles of trail in that area..... super shady so you're not getting cooked, and the occasional good bit of scenery, if you get the idea.

Thanks! I'm only there for one night so that list ought to give me enough to work with... my plans are:

Land, drive to work, work all day, eat and drain a few pints, get up early (since ya'll are living in the past I'll be wide awake at 4AM) and go running for an hour... work all day, fly home.

I'll be back out there if this ends up in sale... in that case, I'll take you up on that cruise in a clean car.

We have an office west and north of Minneapolis.

I suggested we have our sales meeting on one of these but was shot down. I could be the designated driver.

I just tried an icy cold Grain Belt Premium beer and recommend it.

Grain Belt is one of the better domestics out there.

Grain Belt recently came out with their Nordeast brew, which I think is particularly tasty.

I miss Grain Belt.

And Schmidt.

And Blatz.

and all the other little breweries I grew up with before they were consumed by the big breweries.
