Trying to decide on a location. My wife and I are avid cruisers, but the rest of our friends want to do something else. We want fun, entertainment, good food and good sights to see. Its going to be a week-long trip, so I want to steer clear of anything that might involve an 18 hour flight. The budget is $2500 per couple, but cheaper is good too.

Very good, very legit site. They have a magazine too. Not only do they find good deals and publish them, they negotiate special packages.
For instance they have one to Aruba for $1027 per person, 7 nights hotel, air, taxes, transport to/from airport/hotel. That is based on a Miami departure, but it says "add $55 for Indianapolis departure."
For just a bit more ($1400 each) they have an 8-day Thailand tour.

Vegas? If you're in NC, it's probably a 4 hour flight. More good food than you'd know what to do with, endless entertainment options (some of them are even legal...
) and lots of sights to see...again...some of them are even legal.
Seriously, it's been a few years since my wife and I were there, but it's a lot of fun. We don't drink and we don't gamble, but we still love Vegas. Tons of shows to see, a lot of the casino's have free attractions which are worth the time. Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam are nearby and worth the drive. There are places right on the strip where you can rent some cool cars for decent money. My wife and I rented a Mustang 'vert when we went to the Valley of Fire park. Forget what we paid, but it wasn't much. There are endless places to eat, from the cheap to the ultra expensive.
Use the $900 you have left over to wander around the rest of the week.
