I know some don't like it on here and that's fine it's your opinion. My wife; however, loves this show and one of the few car things on TV she'll watch with me. So me not wanting to hear MTV in the background while I tinker with stuff am going nuts that this isn't back on for a new season or second half of season 4. We aren't even getting replays on History of the old seasons yet we are getting 100 replays of pawn stars.

Don't they do that goofy season gap thing? I haven't watched in a long time.

I watch it, but I've been enjoying it less and less. Even the UK version isn't nearly as entertaining as, say, Roadkill.

Glad I am not the only one, it is one of the few car shows Mrs Aussie will watch with me as well.

I was wondering when it is due to come back.

I've always enjoyed the US version. HAven't watched it in a long while because I didn't know when it aired.

I too am missing the Yankee top gear,as the cable company, who has otherwise been stellar, got rid of speedvision. They replaced it with some Fox sports channel, which has very little auto content, let alone top gear, two guy's garage,ANY kind of road racing, or any of the cool stuff I loved.

Speed channel went away completely. Top gear was never on speed.

In reply to jddeadfuelpumps:

That wasn't the cable company that did that, FOX did that being the owners of SPEED. They needed a sports channel to compete with ESPN and NBC Sports, so they decided to change SPEED to FOX Sports 1 because SPEED had such low ratings.

Top Gear US is on the History Channel.

What is this twitter you speak of? I have one social media account along with a few forum accounts and thats too much.

Anyways thanks for the update and glad to hear it's coming back the same week as Game of Thrones. I also just realized The Americans started back up a month ago last night when Episode 5 was airing.....

I've laughed harder at the US top gear guys than I have with the original crew from the UK. The US show is coming together and the UK guys are getting a bit worn down. I still watch both whenever I can.

My only wish is they'd expand beyond the "we picked three cars now here are a series of challenges" format. Why not review cars? Like the ones UKTG won't touch. Or do "the news." Minor gripes though.

They were here in town ~2 weeks ago to film for an upcoming episode. They were driving 3 '60s muscle cars, in conjunction with the NHRA Gatornationals. One of them was an Eleanor Mustang built by this guy (http://www.classic-recreations.com/). After the shooting was done, it was getting a new engine and transmission, as well as a repaint before being shipped to a client in the middle east.

The other 2 cars were a Camaro and Challenger (I believe).

The advertiser funded program format will not allow for an honest review of any car. I don't care for the show but I applaud their decision to not even try.

They did, in the first season. They had SIARPC, too. Honestly, since they stopped trying to copy the UK format, the show has gotten better.

I like the Top Gear UK episodes where they review normal cars like hot hatches. They hardly ever review normal cars and NEVER revisit anything, it's annoying.

I thought I was the only one watching the Americans. If it's being replayed on the web somewhere sit down and watch the first four episodes.

I need to remember to get the wife to add Top Gear America to the DVR.

The American version started as a pale imitation of the UK version. Since they've started to grow into their own personalities and work with each other, it's gotten A LOT better. Enjoyable, even. Hell, I've even gotten to the point that I can tolerate Adam Ferrara.

It's kind of what I hoped would happen. If you go back and watch the first couple of series worth of TGUK, it's...well, not fantastic. It's not bad, but it took until series 4 or 5 until it really got great. TGUS is kind of mirroring that development, although it doesn't have the mainstream appeal that the UK version gets (even non-car people watch it over there).

And if you're like me and don't have cable/satellite, an $8.00 month netflix subscription will get you all of the TGUK episodes (although they run about a year behind), and an $8.00/month Hulu+ subscription will get you all of the TGUS episodes (same day they air).

A few years ago, BBC UK had to run a short season. I forget why exactly, strikes or some such. I think it was the year they built a road. Anyhow, the result was that the expensive "challenge" segments got priority over reviews that year because, well, they'd paid for them. And viewership went up. Andy Wilman wrote a column about it. Most viewers really aren't all that interested in reviews of boring cars.
