Which iRacing wheel?

Hi, my name is Joshua, this is my first post here. I have been reading the articles and boards here for a while and finally signed up today.

So I think I am finally going to take the plunge and get into iRacing, I am curious what is a good (cheap) starter wheel to use? I am in college and cannot spend much money on it unfortunately.

Do the old NASCAR ones work with the new game?

Is the game really beneficial to your on-track and autocross driving?

what would you define as cheap? I had a Logitech DFGT for a while and I heard it was decent for iRacing (i never used it for that) and that can be $100-150 depending on where you buy it. It worked very well, but didn't have a clutch pedal. I got lucky and got a G25 right when the G27 came out so i scored one new for $200 (they are more now, for some reason and G27's are over 300 it seems).

I have an older PS2 Logitech, no clutch pedal (can't say I miss it) that works fine. I don't like the force feedback on it so run without. I use the paddle shifters. I'd suggest spending more effort on your setup in front of the screen than the wheel itself. A good, comfortable position and having the wheel attached to something is more important than the wheel.

There is a learning curve to iRacing. You'll probably hate it the first month; just keep at it. The Miatas are the best cars for a beginner. I wouldn't say it will help your car control any. It's a far more useful tool for learning the real race tracks and is truly a good way to achieve on-track management and situational awareness skills.

Search on the boards here, there was a similar recent topic and at least two wheels for sale in the classifieds....

I am pretty sure the old Logitech Driving Force Pro is essentially the same as the Driving Force GT but with fewer buttons on the face of the wheel.

You can find the DFP's used for under $75 pretty much everywhere. I need to get another.

Cheap on my budget is 50 bucks, however I could stretch that to 75. Where in the classifieds are the wheels you were refering to? I couldn't find them.

When I got rid of mine i sold it for $60 on craigslist locally

I bought it on ebay used for more than $70 + shipping.

If you shop ebay just make sure it has all the cords, like the power cord. haha. I'm not speaking from experience but have seen listings with pieces missing.

You better buy Eddie's wheel here or else I might have to.......
