Can someone help me find a paintball gun on the cheap?  New/Used/Whatever.

Some of my friends have been occasionally doing paintball days on dad's farm and it's fun.  No one is serious about it, I just want something that hurls paintballs at my friends.  I'm thinking $100-150

Semi-auto preferred.  Are there any that use home-refill air, or will they all need CO2 fills somewhere?

Spyders were kind of the Miatas of paintball back in the day.

I've been poking around.  Seems like Spyder and Tippman are the two go-tos.

I found a couple Tippmans on CL, but they look absolutely beat.  I wouldn't know what to look for.

Tipmanns were Cavaliers. Not good at anything, but unkillable.

It's been a long time since I've been in it. But Tippmans and Spyders were the basic mechanical, as opposed to e trigger guns. Solid, no frills, but worked. As far as Co2, yeah, you need to fill. You can run compressed air, but typical tank fills are 3000 or 4500 PSI.

I'd guess at this point it's going to be hard to find something you can trust, because if they're not beat, they've been sitting in a closet for the past 20 years and the bores are caked and o-rings shot..

I don't know what a new gun costs, but I used to use Spyder semi-auto back in the day.  As Appleseed mentions, it was like a Miata.  Always ready for action with minimal upkeep.

It was better out of the box than a comparable Tippman, but once you started swapping barrels and such any differences dissappeared.  I also haven't played in 15 years or so, so my info may be outdated :)

I'm finding Spyder Victor (gun only) for $99, and a package with hopper, tank, and mask (although I already have the wearable gear) for $169

The only reviews I can find are that it's good for beginner/intermediate, tried and true design for 25 years, blah blah.

I think I'll pull the trigger (pun intended) and give it a shot. (also pun intended)

I have an old Scuba tank and a CO2 Beverage tank.  Maybe I'll see about finding adapters to fill my own tanks... if I can get them re-certed.

Yes, but I call it "shopping for free-range organic meat."

What flavors are we putting in the buggy to go to check out?   Do y'all have a bad piggy problem perchance?
