Hi Hive.
Earlier this week I made a batch of muffins, which we make 3-4 times a week.
Since we make this so often it's automatic, the exact time and temp it comes out a certain way. Well this batch was WAY overdone so I knew something was up. I tested with a non calibrated but seemingly reliable thermocouple and the temp was fluctuating between 390 and 430 (on a 400 set point). I hit the Google machine and it says get a new temperature sensor. I do from Bezos-town Amazon link.
I just put it in and the temp went silly, 400 set point and the oven said it was 330 and still commanding on while the thermocouple was pushing 530. I shut it down of course. What should the next step be? Should I get a non Amazon temp sensor or is there a likely different component I should be looking at?
Pic of oven ID tag below. Thanks for any advice.

It sure sounds like the oven temperature sensor is on the way out. Here's a couple of links to show some common parts that can cause that on your model oven, second link has all the parts list and manuals.

Does your oven have a new sensor calibration procedure? I think mine did, but it's been a couple years and I don't remember exactly. I also had a new sensor that was bad right out of the box.
Thanks guys. I see the manual talks about calibration but haven't found the procedure. I'll look for that and see if I can do that. I replaced that temp probe and that made it worse. It could just be a bad (cheap) sensor.
Appreciate the links.
Interesting twist, I put the original one back in and the temp reads ~150 when my thermocouple was at 335 and climbing. I shut it down there.
Thanks for the video. I can't get it to register a temp close enough to calibrate. There is an appliance parts place in town. I'll get another temp probe tomorrow and try that.
When my Whirlpool just kept going inconsistently colder and colder and colder, that's when I ripped it out of the kitchen and threw it in the backyard and bought something else.
Could it have been fixed? Maybe. But after ALL THE STUPID FIXES I had to do with the matching Whirlpool dishwasher which I also hucked into the back yard, I was not fixing nothing on that turd.
Whirlpool fridge - you're next to get thrown!

I hear you. This range is the last original appliance to the kitchen when we renovated 15 years ago. I have to say I haven't had a single problem until now. I have had several fridges that I would have liked to thrown in the backyard. I fixed the last dishwasher a half a dozen times and finally had enough.
Interesting, we had something similar happen. Oddly enough, we had zero issues after turning the oven off and then back on again (via the breaker.)
I just replaced the heating element in our dryer over the weekend. The only annoying part was that I had to pretty much take the whole thing apart to get to the housing for the heating element.
