You've never had Saint Louis pizza, have you?

Nope. Never been there, actually. But, the location makes me wary... Am i right in assuming that it's that corn-crust casserole abomination that the Chicago-dwellers call "Pizza?"
Of the takeout chains around here -
Pizza Hut is the best.
Papa Johns is second.
Domino's is third.
Little Caesars is last.
Our online ordering had specific things you could check off. So there was no way to order say a dr pepper, as we didn't carry it.

Yes. When we first moved out there, we read everywhere about how award-winningly great the local Imo's Pizza was, so we went there first. Without a doubt - the absolute worst, most over-priced pizza I've ever "eaten" in 40+ years. 25 years later I can still taste that crapola.

imos sucks.
There are lots of really good pizza places around the city. Imos. Sucks.
In Columbus we like Mama Mimi's pizza, its one of those tke and bake ones. For a sit down eat in pizza we like Lido's off of Bethel. If it is going to be a chain pizza Donato's is what we usually get.
Thanks, now I am hungry.

We have out own style. If you are ever in Saint Louis, don't ever voice a comparison to Chicago, or anywhere else in Illinois. I like a place called Perronis. Great pizza. I also used to make the pizza at a smaller shop on the north side. We love our food.

I like it already. If you guys get offended being compared to Chicago's pizza, we'll be great friends.

Clearly sir, you have no taste.
but we already knew that!

Well, in the mid-late '80s, they won just about every "People's Choice"-type award in the greater STL region, so we figured they were doing something well. Oh, how wrong we were.
Chicago-style pizza is OK as a meal. You just can't consider it as actual "pizza" if you want to enjoy it; you have to think of it as something else.

If the "pizza" must be eaten with a fork, it's a casserole, and no longer a pizza.
Keep in mind......The Chicagoland area probably has 10,000 pizza joints, all selling different types of pie. Yes, Chicago is known for the deep-dish, stuffed pizza, but most places also offer thin crust too.
The best thin pizza I've had also came from Chicago.

Thin crust is delicious. But that's not "Chicago" pizza. That's New York pizza being sold by enlightened residents of Chicago.
nah, this isn't the floppy, messy huge-piece NY style. We're talking small square pieces with crisp crust. WAAY better than NY.
Ok, now I'm hungry

Oh gross. That's what we have all over Indiana. Makes me mad.
Head over to Papa Dell's in Champaign IL. You will thank me later.
I actually worked there while going to school.
Turoni's in Evansville, In. Frickin' awesome pizza and beer made on site. When Ralphie May came to town he ate there, then wondered how any other restaurant in town was still in business.

Grew up in CT/NY, Ohio is a sad place for pizza. Columbus does have a few decent places. Mama Mimis for normal pizza, Hound Dogs/Adriatico's for drunk pizza.
I'm always surprised whenever I'm in Indianapolis or Bloomington that there is no good pizza based on its proximity to Chicago. I'm not a deep-dish lover (although I do love it), I go for the Chicago style thin crust. Aurelio's and Rosati's do it right as far as chains go; I have my own local favorites that do it better.

Papa Dells is overrated. It is the deep dish in Champaign, but it is still overrated.
Best pizza that I've found so far in central Illinois is Lucca Grill in Bloomington, but that is for the thin-crust fans.
