Not what I meant actually. Was inviting the fast clown to tell us about his Firehawk experience. Was that Randy Pobst? Would have been a cool pic for the GRM "Know Your Roots". I used to love watching those types of series - Firehawk, Escort Endurance, Corvette Challenge, etc.
I found that picture by accident. Just goes to prove you should always be on your best behavior. You never know when someone is going to find something you did on the internet.
It certianly explains Guido's mullet.
Damm clown, you holdin out on us? We know about the Nissan work, but with Randy Pobst? Firehawk? Yer even more of the man than we want to admit.
Whats the anit Ted Turner thing on the fender?
Yes, Randy was his co-driver at several races. Randy used to live right up the road from Guido. If you ever see Randy at a race, ask him about Guido's Pontiac at the West Palm Beach Firehawk race. It's even more funny to hear Guido tell it, but you definitely have to get it from either one of them in person.
The year before that incident, Guido and I were in that car driving along the backroads at night in West Palm in an effort to clean out what we thought might be water in the gas. We drove the car to an Amoco station, filled it up, and then proceeded to drive at high rates of speed with his co-driver following us in his pick-up. The car was definitely NOT street legal, and of course, no plates on it at all. I'm in the passenger seat, wedged in under the Petty bar coming down off the main hoop of the roll bar, with no way to make the seat belt work (ah, the joys of thinking you're invinceable at 20).
Guido lights them up leaving a stop light, and we're up to 100 in no time, when I see a car in a big hurry whip around the co-driver following us. Uh-oh, this can't be good. Guido slows back down to a reasonable speed, and in no time, the other car is on us. I can't quite see, but I'm pretty sure there's a light bar on top, and it sure looks like a Ford LTD headlight profile.
After following us for what seemed like an hour (probably was just 30 secs.), he pulls out around us and takes off. Sure enough, County Sheriff cruiser. The only thing that probably saved us from a night in jail was the Just Say NO! to Drugs sticker on the back bumper. Well, that, and the Caution! Clown Driving! one too.

so what ever happened to the old race cars the clown ran anyway? i do rember at least one race on espn back in the day of the clown hitting the wall....
and you expect the clown to make some typr of comment in here at least since we are talking about him....
Clowns Scare me. What the hell are they hiding from behind all tha make up?
Can't sleep, clowns will eat me......
They all float down here. And you'll float too!
PS: Mental, please don't encourage the clown. Guido says "Back when I used to race for Nissan..." more than Wayne says "Back in Canada..."
Back before I used to race for Nissan... I raced a Pontiac. Here's what my good friend Randy did for me at the 1990 Palm Beach Grand Prix... We were the front running Firebird about 7th overall with about 1/2 hour to the finish. There were factory Firebirds getting beat by Randy and a clown Then Randy spun letting a moron by, then a Mustang driver ignored all of the waving flags and T-boned himself on the front of my parked car!
I still have the crashed hood hanging in my garage signed by Randy. Now that he's famous maybe I can get some of my losses back by selling it. He also signed my banana at the Daytona 24 2 years ago, I'll throw that in and an autographed poster of the World's Fastest Clown dated whenever you want.
"I'm just wondering if the nose and tie are SFI rated. " Actually I flame tested a nose and concluded to never share the results with the officials. The suit is all nomex supplied by Tim at SafeQuip, great guy!!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa! There are some things we really don't need to know!!
You know, if you cropped that photo of you off just above the knees, it would look like you're climbing out of the engine bay.

I was probably working corners at that race. Didn't Guido actually win the Challenge one year? I've been away for awhile and haven't been keeping track..

This'll teach me not to post until after I've read the entire thread.
Micheal, I don't know if you remember me, but I sure remember you. I'm Jay Roberts, and was part of Todd Malone's crazy Atlanta Region SCCA Corner Workers back then. I think I was wearing the hat with the arrow through it back then. I seem to recall a recent story involving you and a Midget and the GRM Challenge?
