I have an RX7 that I bought without an engine and a transmission a few years ago. I just recently started to work on it. I am close to getting it back on the road.

I have one problem! I don't remember if I had the title transferred to my name or not. I also can't find the title (which leads me to believe I didn't transfer it).

Does anybody know if it is possible ot look up a vehicles owner by its vin number? The VIN number is all that I have on this vehicle right now. No old or new tags, nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

The VIN is JM1FC3315H0523985

Thanks!

Rob R.

Fill out the form and step up to the window at DMV. If it's not Titled in your name, you'd probably have to have the previous owner do it.

$22.50 is less than half the cost in New York.

Trust me, a friendly DMV-bot can find out all sorts of things if it means money for the state.

Edit: Although it'll look funny if you tell them "I don't remember who I bought this from, and I didn't keep the bill of sale or title. Can you help?"

It looks like you have to build an off-road race car with that stolen RX7, eh?

Nobody would steal a 2ng gen AUTO NA GXL without an engine or trans. I would also assume that said person wouldn't post up the VIN # on the interwebs.

I have two cars that look pretty similar. It seems that since one is going to the scrapyard, I may be able to do something with the dashboards.

Actually, I don't want to do that. It would be a bigger pain than dealing with the DMV properly.

Yay! That Latrobe one is me!

Also, I looked through some of my older emails and found the original owner. It is somebody on this board! (not sure if they would appreciate me posting their user name here.)

there ya go......now just file for a lost title. All you should need is the vin# and perhaps a LEO to check it.

I think I can just go register the car now if I show them my drivers license.

Yippee!
