Our van has had some trouble. It thinks the fuel door is open and so the sliding door won't slide. I'm trying not to bring it anywhere even though it's probably covered under the huge warranty Mopar offered us for free.

Does anybody know why and what to do about it?

sounds like the safety switch on the fuel door died?

They are electrically operated, so I'd go with the safety switch and then dig into deeper.  Worth a look to see if there's a bad contact or bad switch.

Honestly, if you have a warranty, I'd use it.  It doesn't hurt to have a quick look yourself though.

If it's the same as my GC, then there is an interlock switch that prevents the sliding door from opening if the gas cap door is open.  Unfortunately, the wiring diagram in my Haynes manual doesn't show that switch.

A little further Googling found this, which may be helpful.
