I thought this was about broken p-brakes. I spent years in my Rabbit and MR2 w/o a p-brake.
Block of wood, eye hook, long rope.
Get the car about where you want it, open driver's door to set block on ground.
Let the car roll onto block.
Leave the long rope end in the car, close door.

When it is time to go, from driver's seat, pull rope to retrieve the block.

Maybe it's a little insight on why the USPS always operates in the red; payouts for damages can get expensive.

I work for USPS. We were shown that a month ago. That carrier was supposed to put the truck in park, apply the parking brake, curb the wheels and then shut off the truck. At best, he put it into park but the truck looks like it slipped into reverse and took off.

USPS operates in the red for a variety of reasons. Being self insured is probably not one of them.

FWIW. I have been with them for just over three years and I hate my job. It is without a doubt the worst employer that I have ever been with. Management and the unions are killing the company and nobody seems to care. I have 17+ years of management experience including owning my own successful company and I watch those with no experience get promoted through nepotism and patronage. USPS actually has taken a dim view of me going back to school on my own dime (no tuition reimbursement offered) to get my MBA. They don't want to work around my school schedule and constantly ride me that I need to "make the Post Office the top priority in my life". Yeah, right. Resumes are flying out of my door as we speak.

They put those stupid P and R symbols just too damn small!

Can you believe it took a federal regulation decades ago to get all the car manufacturers to standardize the arrangement of the automatic transmission shift quadrant?

Example? My mother's aunt had a '64 Plymouth with that wonderful pushbutton automatic transmission. Car companies were allowed to make their own decision on where to put "R", "D", "L", and "P". That '64 Plymouth had buttons for R and D, but had a LEVER that was moved up or down to engage/disengage PARK. Edsel had a pushbutton automatic, mounted on the steering wheel. But some car companies put the gears in the order of D L R P

Not surprising. The National Association of Letter Carriers are a pretty big union.....They even have a retirement community, NALCREST, that is not too far away from me. As you'd expect, residents of NALCREST are not allowed to own dogs.

I've driven through there numerous times with Gertude in the car and the window down so she can bark at stuff. I wish she hiked her leg to pee so I could get a photo of her watering their sign.

I always say that NALC stands for the National Association of Lazy (not Letter) Carriers. It has not endeared me to anyone.

I should add that several of the mail trucks at my office do not have working "PRND21" indicators. Not sure why, they're basically S-10 pickups under a custom body and the steering column is stock GM stuff, even down to the "Chevrolet" on the horn button.

My '54 Chevy was P - N - D - L - R.

Be careful with neutral drops.

I'd bet the P-R-N-D-G one would really confuse people.

It seems to be standard procedure now. Nosey Do-gooder calls 911 to report and accident the witnessed. Tells operator the don't know but there are probably many injuries due to out of control mail truck running around the yard, Leaves scene.

A few minutes later fire/EMS responds to find that someone wasted their time reporting nonexistant injuries., lectures the people that are there on the importance of their time.

There was a USPS van that broke loose and went over a hill somewhere in the 'Burgh area over the last cpl weeks. IIRC, somebody posted it on the WPXI or Dave Bondy's FB page.

My dad and I used to have a Dynaflow Buick :)

looks like he got runover by his own truck. I seem him run over to it on it's second pass around the island and he disappears off camera. On the third pass he is laying on the ground trying to get up.

As for the Post office. My local one is not bad, most people there are very nice.. but, no offense to anybody.. it is like the island of misfit toys.

One lady is morbidly obese, another is deaf (but can read lips), another guy walks around the counter with a terrible limp.
