It wasn't there last night, but it was there this morning. The rock is about the size of a smaller rock.
I put the planter saucer in the birdbath to give the birds a dry perch. Could a bird have added the rock? A racoon? Is my neighbor messing with me? 
Are you suggesting that rocks migrate?
Perhaps two of them carried it on a line...

FWIW, this rock visually matches other rocks in our yard. (Geology 101 was a long time ago.)
How much did you have to drink prior to this discovery?
Crows are very inquisitive and like to pick stuff up and move it around, and even more so if it is shiny. They also like to dunk things in water, mostly food items, but I've seen them with playing with sticks and rocks in drinking fountains and birdbaths before.

Then one day, I noticed fish. Several of them.

Fish eggs cling to wading bird's legs. They then fly to your pond and the eggs come off. Presto. Fish in your pond. Very common.

Most fish lay eggs, and the eggs are transported via eggs sticking to birds or other animals. Happens on farm ponds quite often.

Raccoon
A while back, Chris and I were driving over an overpass in Jacksonville when a giant fish hit our windshield. No other traffic in front of us, nothing above us, just boom here's a fish.
I've always assumed a bird dropped their dinner on the way home from the river.

My guess is Crow or Raccoon. Crows like to pick stuff up and they will use rocks to break things; eggs, nuts, fruit, roadkill skulls to get at the yummy brains, styrofoam to-go containers from the trash, etc. I have also seen raccoons grab a PB&J crust from the trash along with a rock just kinda by habit. The same way you grab a popsicle from the freezer and absent-mindedly grab a spoon from the drawer only to realize you don't need silverware to eat popsicles.
