So I get an, undesirable text today. How do I go about finding out who sent it? It has a video attached to it, but I have not played the video, afraid of maleware or other issues. Normally, if I were to get a nasty text featuring somebody flogging their phallus, I'd expect Logdog, but he was standing right there with me when I got it. So, how can I do some detective work? I googled the number and only come up with pay services to do a reverse look-up.

Any ideas?

Coworker got a similar thing last week, and it wiped out all her texts and screwed up the phone for 1/2 the day before it would send/receive again. You might be better off deleting it and moving on.

This so totally does not sound right!

If you knew Logdog, that would sound totally normal.

I'm sure it was just maleware or phishing so I deleted it. The odd thing was, it came from my area code. Usually you'd expect crap like that to come from some odd area code that you've never seen before.

That was my thought. I hear he likes to text.

Chances are it is some type of malware and its probably also sent from some shiny happy person on a computer somewhere. There are programs that allow a user to make calls/txts from the internet, yet enter a phone number to mask who it is......IDK how to trace the berkeleyers though.

But seriously, delete that E36 M3. Highly likely it's malware.

Yeah, I did that right after posting this. I wrote the phone number down in case it would help, but I'm sure it won't.
