I get these blocks of pop up text from a previous window or tab and they stay on the screen. I have to close the browser to be rid of them but usually another appears soon after. How do I deal with this?

Sounds like you got hijacked.  What browser?  Get Hijack This and Malware Bytes, run them both and do what they say.  Or your browser is way out of date or something.

I am pretty sure it is just a glitch. It is not a new popup, but text from another screen that will not go away. But I will try a scan anyway. This is a pretty new laptop and I reset it to just after the purchase date and it did not help.

In reply to bearmtnmartin :Chrome and EDge use the same engine webkit. Try Firefox to see if the problem is still there. If you hate Firefox try Waterfox, it has the same Gecko engine as Firefox. I use different browsers for different sites to solve problems but most people couldn't handle 5 different browsers.

Mine does that. I don't think that the browser has made a difference.
